This 1966 Jaguar XKE Series I roadster was acquired from noted Jaguar authority Dr. Michael C. Mueller by Dave Ferguson of Images Auto Body in Campbell, California, in 2015 and subsequently underwent a rotisserie refurbishment completed in 2019. Work involved a bare-metal repaint in Cotswold Blue, an interior re-trim in red leather, a chassis overhaul, rebuilds of the replacement 4.2-liter inline-six and four-speed manual transmission, and more as detailed below. Chassis 1E11012 served as Ferguson’s personal car and was driven in the 2019 Adriatic Adventure rally in Europe before being sold to the current owner in 2022. The roadster wears a blue soft top as well as 72-spoke wire wheels and is further equipped with an electric power steering kit from EZ Power Steering, Gaz adjustable coilovers, and SNG Barratt alloy brake calipers. Inside, a wood-rimmed Lecarra steering wheel fronts rebuilt Smiths instrumentation and is accompanied by an aftermarket air conditioning system and stereo. The engine breathes through triple SU carburetors and also has a stainless-steel exhaust system as well as a four-row alloy radiator and a 123ignition electronic ignition. This XKE Series I roadster is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner in Campbell, California, with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, partial build records, and a clean Montana title in the name of the owner’s LLC.

This example left the factory finished in Cream and was disassembled, stripped to bare metal, sand-blasted, and fitted with replacement sills before it was repainted in Cotswold Blue as part of the aforementioned rotisserie refurbishment. A video narrated by Dave Ferguson summarizing the project is included.

The car wears a blue soft top and is further equipped with a louvered clamshell hood, Talbot Berlin–style mirrors, triple windshield wipers, and wraparound chrome bumpers.

The 72-spoke wire wheels measure 15″ in diameter and are secured by two-eared knock-offs. They are mounted with 205/70 Michelin tires. An electric power steering kit from EZ Power Steering, Gaz adjustable coilovers, SNG Barratt alloy brake calipers, and cross-drilled rotors were added as part of the chassis refurbishment.

The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in red leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Black vinyl covers the dash, while black mats protect the footwells below. A retro-look digital media receiver in the center stack and a Sirius XM satellite radio receiver in the open dash cubby are connected to aftermarket speakers on either side of the transmission tunnel. Further details include a sliding rear-view mirror, a heater, and tan lap belts as well as air conditioning and an auxiliary cooling fan.

The wood-rimmed Lecarra steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 12k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership. The gauges and toggle switchgear were rebuilt in the course of the refurbishment, and total mileage is unknown.

The seller tells us that the replacement 4.2-liter inline-six was fitted with hardened valves and seats, tappet hold-downs, Mahle 9:1 pistons, and later-model connecting rods as part of the aforementioned rebuild. It is further equipped with triple SU carburetors, a stainless-steel exhaust system, an electric fuel pump, 123ignition electronic ignition, a high-torque starter, an upgraded water pump, and a four-row alloy radiator with an electric fan and an Eagle-style surge tank.

The cylinder head stamp reads 7E1884-9.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a replacement full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The seller tells us that a balanced and lightened steel flywheel was installed, the clutch assembly was replaced, and the front “picture frame” was reinforced as part of the refurbishment.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as a May 1965 build date.

Car number 1E11012 appears on the chassis plate, which is accompanied by a “J66” tag.
