This 1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III roadster was sold new by Reese Import Autos of Dallas, Texas, in August 1975 to a person who kept the car until at least 1989. The vehicle had been stored for approximately 30 years before the seller purchased it in 2023, and a subsequent refurbishment involved repainting the roadster in British Racing Green, replacing the wheels and tires, and overhauling the cooling, fuel, braking, and air-conditioning systems. Power is supplied by a replacement 5.3-liter V12 linked with a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car features Cinnamon leather upholstery, a black removable hardtop, a black convertible top, quadruple Stromberg carburetors, 15” knock-off wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a British Leyland–branded AM/FM radio, and a luggage rack. This E-Type is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, an owner’s manual, 1975 sales paperwork, service records, spare parts, a car cover, a hardtop storage stand, and a Florida title in the seller’s name.
Finished from the factory in Sable and previously painted blue, the vehicle was stripped and repainted in British Racing Green in mid-2025 by Palm City Auto Repair and Collision of Palm City, Florida. A black removable hardtop is installed on the car in accompanying photographs, and a black convertible top also is included in the sale. Other equipment includes uncovered headlights, a forward-hinged louvered hood, a rear luggage rack, and chrome bumpers. The front-bumper overriders, the weatherstripping, the side mirror, and the windshield wipers were replaced under current ownership. The seller notes tears in the soft top.
Photos documenting the repaint process are provided above.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with knock-off spinners and are mounted with Uniroyal Tiger Paw whitewall tires measuring 215/70; the wheels and tires were replaced under current ownership. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The brake master cylinder, servo, and front calipers, rotors, and pads were replaced during the refurbishment.
The cabin features seating surfaces upholstered in Cinnamon leather as well as color-coordinated door panels and carpeting. Interior amenities include air conditioning, a center console, three-point seatbelts, a locking glovebox, a passenger-side grab handle, and a British Leyland–branded AM/FM radio. The A/C and the trunk compartment were refurbished under current ownership. A Motorola eight-track player is located in the glovebox, although the seller has not been able to get it to operate. The interior lights also are inoperable, and the steering-wheel horn button has been bypassed in favor of a separate button. The seller also states that the air-conditioning system will not hold a charge and suspects a potential gasket leak at the compressor.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level are positioned in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 23k miles, approximately 400 of which were added under current ownership. The seller states that the odometer reading is not accurate, and true mileage is unknown.
The 5.3-liter V12 was manufactured in 1978 for installation in a Jaguar XJ12 sedan, and it was fitted in this car at some point under prior ownership. The quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors were rebuilt since 2024 and the following parts were replaced:
Fuel pumps
Fuel tank
Open-element air cleaners
Radiator and header tank
Water pump
Thermostat
Heater valve
Hoses
Belts
Alternator
Battery
Spark plugs
Oil-pressure sensor
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The wheel wells have been undercoated.
Paperwork from the August 1975 initial sale and a 1989 service receipt are shown above, and other service records are included along with accompanying spare parts and additional items.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as a build date of April 4, 1974, plus subsequent dispatch to New York. A corresponding Statement of Build from the Jaguar Heritage Trust documents that the donor engine was originally installed in a Jaguar XJ12 sedan in January 1978.
The Florida title lists the vehicle’s color as blue.
