This 1974 Jaguar XKE Series III Roadster is a two-owner example showing only 39,340 original miles, fully documented from new. Finished in Regency Red with a Biscuit interior, it presents as an exceptionally preserved and freshly restored final-year E-Type, retaining its original charm while benefiting from extensive recent work.

The car includes its original sales paperwork, along with continuous service records from the 1970s through today. The first owner later sold it to his brother, who remains the current owner. Its originality, long-term documentation, and careful ownership history set it apart from most surviving Series III cars.

In 2021, the Jaguar received a frame-off restoration performed by Rich Hess at Anvil & Iron in Fairview, PA. The body and chassis were separated, the frame and suspension components were sand-blasted, refinished, and reassembled, and the mechanical systems were comprehensively addressed. The work included new bushings and gaskets throughout, new vacuum and coolant lines, a new transmission vacuum modulator, a replacement transmission pan gasket, a rebuilt and resealed brake master cylinder, and a rebuilt starter. The car has been driven only about 350 miles since the restoration, remaining in show-quality condition while fully usable.

Power comes from the Series III's signature 5.3L V12, paired with a 3-speed Borg-Warner automatic transmission. This generation of the E-Type rides on the longer 105-inch wheelbase originally introduced on the Series II 2+2 models, offering improved cabin space and excellent ride stability. Other Series III characteristics include a wider front track with flared wheel arches to accommodate larger tires, a larger grille opening for better cooling, and quad exhaust outlets. Jaguar produced fewer than 8,000 Series III roadsters, making this a relatively rare example of the final evolution of the E-Type.

Inside, the cockpit keeps its fully analog character with simple gauges, rocker switches, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel - features that give the Series III its mechanical, tactile identity without modern screens or driver aids. The long hood, chrome wire wheels, and unmistakable silhouette make the car immediately recognizable, and the V12's smooth, relaxed power delivery makes it well suited for top-down cruising.

Overall, this is a well-documented, freshly restored, final-year E-Type Roadster with known mileage, long-term family ownership, and factory-correct presentation - an excellent example of one of Jaguar's most iconic designs.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
