For sale at The Hairpin Company near Calne. Price on application. Amended seller's description below.

www.thhairpincompany.co.uk/for-sale/1962-jaguar-e-type-series-one-3.8-coupe

A great left hand drive matching numbers example finished in its original fantastic colours of Opalescent Dark Blue with Red leather interior. Originally dispatched to Jaguar Cars in New York on 26 November 1962 as noted on the JDHT certificate, this E Type spent many years in California before returning to the UK in the 1990s. Following its return the car spent many years in storage before the last owner purchased it in 2017.

A full restoration programme was embarked upon, the aim being to return the car to how it was when dispatched with subtle modifications to improve usability. The body was chemically stripped by SPL before before being completely rebuilt by Castle Classics. The engine was rebuilt to fast road specification and the Moss Box rebuilt by Hardy Engineering. The differential was rebuilt and the ration changed to 3.07 by AJS, A new clutch fitted and the master cylinder reconditioned, with a new slave cylinder.

Weber carburettors are fitted to a Rob Beere manifold with 2'' free flow exhaust, 123 electronic distributor, new fuel tank with Facet fuel pump; in addition a new aluminium radiator with Fosseway fan. Front and rear suspension is zinc plated, new torsion bars and anti-roll bars uprated with new springs and Gaz shocks. Brakes are BCC aluminium 4 pot calipers with vented discs to the front with uprated Zeus pistons to the rear.

The interior was retrimmed in correct materials from Aldridge and chrome was finished or replaced by Derby plating. There are few E Types that are really good examples, this is one. The car looks right and drives beautifully, it lives up to the legend. It comes with a substantial history file detailing its import and subsequent restoration.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
