Car to be at auction 6/16
www.bonhams.com/auctions/23513/lot/9/
Auction description:
Lot 9
1962 JAGUAR E-TYPE SERIES 1 3.8-LITER ROADSTER
US$ 150,000 - 175,000
£100,000 - 120,000
Greenwich Concours d'Elegance Auction
Chassis no. 879997
Engine no. RA3247-9
This striking 3.8-Liter E-Type was completed at the Browns Lane Jaguar works on August 19, 1963. A left-hand-drive model destined for the United States, this E-Type was finished in Sand over a light tan interior with a black top. According to its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, it was delivered to Jaguar Cars in New York. The first owner was one Milano Andersen of Midland, Texas.
The intervening history of the car is not known at the time of cataloging, but the current owner, who acquired the car from a New Jersey enthusiast about 17 years ago, has worked to ensure that the car provides an enjoyable and thrilling motoring experience. Restored several years ago, the Jag was subject to a bare metal respray in Primrose Yellow over a freshly retrimmed red leather interior. The numbers matching engine was rebuilt and the original transmission--which had been replaced with an all-synchromesh 4-speed gearbox from a later, '65 E-Type--was serviced. Breathing through a two inch stainless steel exhaust system, the straight six is further abetted by an upgrading cooling system with an aluminum radiator and high velocity electric fan. With going well taken care of, stopping was also attended to with four-piston front brake calipers replacing the original units (although those come with the car). In the midst of this, the rest of the brake system was also rebuilt, along with the suspension--which was additionally fitted with an adjustable torsion bar, and a new wiring harness was installed.
This Jag would find a bit of movie fame as well with some important screen time at the beginning of the 2013 Martin Scorsese film The Wolf of Wall Street as Jordan Belfort's (Leonardo DiCaprio title character) first big purchase to mark his initial success as a starting stockbroker. The yellow Jag, parked in front of a diner, would prompt Donnie Azoff (played by Jonah Hill) to approach Belfort and start the conversation that would set the pair of them on big scam that would play out over the course of the film.
Complete with its all-important Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate documenting that the car retains its matching numbers engine and a Picture Cars East letter to prove its film provenance, it has been recently detailed to a high degree. This droptop Jag is ready for summer drives and evening fun.

Lot Number 148
1964 Jaguar XKE Series I OTS
2017 The Texas Classic Auction
ESTIMATE: $150,000 - $180,000
CHASSIS NO: 879997
• Numbers matching chassis, body, engine, and cylinder head
• Original data verified by Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate
• Previous long term ownership; beautifully restored and serviced
• Complete with jack, spare assembly and emergency equipment
• Used in the hit movie The Wolf of Wall Street
Accompanied by its corresponding Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, this 1964 Jaguar XKE was completed at the Browns Lane Jaguar works on August 19, 1963. Numbered 879997, this original left-hand drive, U.S. delivery model was delivered to Jaguar Cars in New York and purchased new by Milano Andersen of Midland, Texas. The car later made its way back east to New York State, where it most recently enjoyed single-owner care for 20 years. It was painstakingly restored several years ago, followed by proper care and maintenance ever since, with the Jaguar continuing to present exceptionally well, as it is offered today. A recent major tune-up was performed on the numbers-matching DOHC 'XK' engine, which also retains its original cylinder head, ensuring 879997 will continue to provide exceptional drivability for its new keeper.
Recently, 879997 found a bit of fame with the XKE capturing some important screen time in Martin Scorsese's 2013 hit movie, The Wolf of Wall Street, as the first big purchase of title character Jordan Belfort, portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio. Parked in front of a diner, the yellow Jaguar prompted Donnie Azoff, played by Jonah Hill, to approach Belfort and open a conversation that would begin their partnership that would play out over the course of the film. A Certificate of Authenticity from New York's Picture Cars East confirms the role of 879997 in the movie, and states it was subsequently used in various commercials and photo shoots after the movie filming wrapped.
Reported by the expert consignor to be a fantastic driving example of the iconic Series I XKE, 879997 is exceptionally pure and clearly benefits from an outstanding restoration, proper care, and recent servicing. Desirable items included with the sale of 879997 include the all-important Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, a jack inside its storage pouch, a matching spare tire/wheel assembly, and roadside emergency equipment. Gorgeously presented and well performing, this Jaguar sports many early and desirable features, and is a documented "movie star" that stands ready for elegant and sporting open motoring at its best.
