This 1961 Jaguar XKE is a Series I flat-floor roadster that was built in August 1961 and delivered new to the US through Jaguar Cars in New York. Chassis 875424 is believed to have spent approximately 35 years stored in a garage in California before being sold in 2018. It was subsequently acquired by the current owner as a non-running project in 2019 and brought to France. Repainted in red, the car rolls on 15″ wire-spoke wheels and features enclosed headlights, welded hood louvers, and a worn Fawn soft top. Inside, narrow bucket seats wearing torn upholstery are accompanied by a wood-rimmed steering wheel, textured aluminum trim, and Smiths instrumentation. The retained 3.8-liter inline-six is fitted with triple SU carburetors and linked with a four-speed manual gearbox as well as a limited-slip differential. This XKE Series I roadster project is now offered on dealer consignment in Poitiers, France, with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, a jack bag, and a French modèle 846A certificate.

Finished from the factory in Opalescent Bronze, the car was repainted red at some point under previous ownership. It wears a worn Fawn soft top and is further equipped with enclosed headlights, welded hood louvers, and wraparound bumpers with tubular guards.

The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with older 185/70 pie-crust tires. The car is fitted with Koni shocks and also has four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors.

Trimmed in beige upholstery from the factory, the cabin retains narrow bucket seats that wear torn leather upholstery as well as deteriorated padding. Textured aluminum trim appears on the center stack and console, and further appointments include a sliding rearview mirror, a heater, and an AM radio.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 49k miles.

A jack bag is stored in the trunk along with a spare wheel and tire.

The 3.8-liter inline-six featured triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The selling dealer tells us that the engine has not run in a number of years and appears to be seized. An alloy radiator is retained up front along with a two-piece throttle linkage.

The Moss four-speed manual gearbox is linked with a limited-slip differential. Rust is noted on the exhaust system and other underside components.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.

The vehicle is being sold with its French modèle 846A certificate. The sale does not include a title, as the vehicle is located in a country that does not issue titles for vehicles.
