Advertised for sale on carsales.com.au 9 November 2025, asking AUD$325,000. Car is in Sydney, Australia. Private seller’s description (summarised) follows:

Chassis # 850171, Engine # R1842-8, Body # R1702, Gearbox # EB954JS This is a unique opportunity to purchase an all matching numbers, original RHD, early Series 1, 3.8 litre roadster with welded-in bonnet louvres, flat floor and triple throttle linkage. Head and engine fully reconditioned by Anthony Ardito as well as complete rewire. Since my purchase in October 2006 I have partly restored  including the following: New front frames by E-Type Fabs, original E-Type hard top, Series 2 braking system (original Girlock brakes available), rebuilt rear suspension and differential, Dunlop D-type alloy rims with triple eared spinners, new old stock Abarth exhaust system, (original exhaust available), Marsten type original radiator, Lucas Dynalite alternator (original generator available), high torque starter motor, 123 Electronic ignition, Flamethrower coil, Lucas PL700 tri-bar headlights, Spal thermo fan, new fabric hood and new hood envelope cover, new interior with Connolly leather seats. The body is rust free. Car comes with a comprehensive history file and includes workshop manual, parts catalogue and Shelley bottle jack (very rare). Time to sell, getting a bit too old to make the most of it.

(Contributor’s note: XKEData shows Body number R3649 and Gearbox EB4253 added to XKEData for 850171 on 18 August 2006, that information being blank previously. Is this a true matching numbers car? The first edition of Australian E-type Jaguar Register by Roger Payne (1991) states that the original 850171 was broken up in the 1970s. )

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
