This 1971 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster was built in August 1970 and dispatched to New York soon thereafter. The car is said to have been refurbished around 1994, the interior was redone in 2011, and the seller purchased the vehicle in 2022. Finished in British Racing Green over tan leather, the Jaguar is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a tan soft top, a top boot, a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ wire wheels, a Nardi wood-rimmed steering wheel, an Alpine CD stereo, dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, PerTronix electronic ignition, and a stainless exhaust system. This XKE roadster is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, service records, tire-changing tools, and a duplicate California title in the seller’s name.
Finished from the factory in Silver Grey, the car received body work and was repainted in British Racing Green during the aforementioned refurbishment, the seller tells us. The tan soft top has been replaced, and other exterior equipment includes sealed-beam open headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, a driver-side mirror, bright trim, wraparound chrome bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets. The top boot was replaced in 2011.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 205/70 Milestar Touring SLE whitewall tires that were installed in July 2024. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The cabin was trimmed in black by the factory, and it has undergone a color change to tan. The bucket seats were retrimmed and the carpeting was replaced in 2011 using materials sourced from GAHH Automotive. Interior appointments include a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpeting as well as an Alpine CD stereo, lap belts, a passenger-side grab handle, a locking glovebox, and a heater. The driver door was adjusted in 2022.
A Nardi wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 37k miles, approximately 1,400 of which were added under current ownership.
The replacement 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. The engine reportedly was rebuilt in the 1990s, and around 2010 PerTronix electronic ignition was installed and the choke cables and the fuel sending unit were replaced. The carburetors were overhauled in 2022, and the battery, starter, spark plugs, and heater valve were replaced. The radiator was cleaned in mid-2025.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Stainless-steel exhaust pipes and resonators were fitted in 2022.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists the original colors and component numbers along with manufacture on August 13, 1970, and dispatch to New York.
The California title carries an “Exceeds Mechanical Limits” notation and also indicates that the document is a Duplicate.
