This 1971 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster was acquired by the current owner in 1974 and now shows 53k miles. The car is finished in Dark Blue with a black soft top over Dark Blue leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. It also has power steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and 15″ wire wheels as well as a wood-rimmed steering wheel, air conditioning, and an AM/FM radio. This XKE roadster is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with service records and a duplicate California title in the owner’s name.
The car left the factory finished in Dark Blue with a blue soft top. A black soft top has been installed, though the plastic window is yellowed. A louvered clamshell hood, sealed-beam open headlights, wraparound chrome bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets are further details.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by three-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 215/70 Dunlop Elite Seventy whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power steering, while braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in Dark Blue leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. Interior appointments include a black dash, a locking glovebox, a heater, air conditioning, and an AM/FM radio.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 53k miles, approximately 11k of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 245 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The seller recommends servicing the rear axle as well as replacing the floorboards.
A digital copy of the Production Record Trace Certificate from the Jaguar Heritage Trust lists a production date of June 17, 1970, as well as factory identification numbers and colors.
