This 1971 Jaguar XKE Series II is a red-on-black roadster that is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car was refinished in its factory shade of Signal Red prior to the current owner’s 2018 acquisition, and work since 2024 has involved replacing the exhaust system, the black soft top, and the clutch and brake fluid level sensors. Equipment includes mesh headlight guards, a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, and 15″ wire wheels in addition to a wood-rimmed steering wheel, an AM/FM radio, and a heater. This XKE roadster is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a removable black hardtop and chrome molding, and a Virginia title in the owner’s name.
The seller states that the car was specified from the factory in Signal Red, and was refinished to match under prior ownership. The bumpers were also re-chromed. Additional exterior equipment includes mesh headlight guards, dual side mirrors, and a louvered clamshell hood. A replacement black soft top was fitted in preparation for the sale.
Wire 15″ wheels are secured by three-eared knock-offs and are mounted with BFGoodrich Advantage T/A tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. Level sensors for the clutch and brake fluid were replaced in 2025.
The bucket seats are upholstered in black leather, and interior appointments include an AM radio, a locking glovebox, a heater, and sun visors.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 71k miles, a handful of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 245 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. A stainless-steel exhaust system was installed in 2024.
A removable black hardtop, uninstalled chrome molding, and a hardtop stand will accompany the car.
