This 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 V12 Roadster is finished in White and presents as a particularly charming and usable example. Rather than having been subjected to a recent comprehensive restoration, the car displays an appealing degree of age-related patina and the character that comes from many years of careful ownership and enjoyment.

Importantly, this is not an E-Type that has simply been stored away. The vendor and his family continue to use the Jaguar regularly, including taking it to local cars and coffee gatherings. During our photography session, the V12 started readily and ran very smoothly.

The accompanying history file is extensive and includes the Jaguar service passport, numerous previous MOT certificates, historic registration documents and DVLA correspondence, period Jaguar literature, insurance paperwork and a substantial collection of invoices. Particularly noteworthy is a long run of Jaguar Drivers’ Club valuation certificates dating from the 1990s into the 2000s, together with associated club literature and membership material.

The invoices demonstrate considerable maintenance over the years. Documented expenditure includes work to the braking system, rear suspension and axle assembly, a reconditioned differential and propshaft universal joint, together with attention to the ignition system. The cooling system has also received significant attention, including a replacement radiator, hoses and associated cooling-system components.

A wonderfully characterful V12 Roadster with a substantial history file, this E-Type offers its next custodian the opportunity to simply continue using and enjoying it as it stands, or to progressively improve the car over time whilst retaining its appealing established character.
