This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster was acquired by the late owner and their spouse in November 1999. The car is finished in Willow Green over light tan leather upholstery, and power is provided by a replacement 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a tan convertible top, 15″ wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, Boge rear shocks, a louvered clamshell hood, dual exhaust outlets, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a Kenwood CD radio. The interior was reupholstered in 2002 and the engine was rebuilt in 2007. This XKE roadster is now offered on behalf of the late owner’s spouse with service records and a clean North Carolina title.
The car is finished in Willow Green and features a louvered clamshell hood, a driver-side mirror, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, and dual exhaust outlets. A section above the trunk lid was repainted under prior ownership. The tan convertible top has been replaced.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 185-section Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The suspension was overhauled with Boge rear shocks and replacement springs in June 2003. The brake booster was replaced in 2007.
The cabin was reupholstered in 2002 and the bucket seats are trimmed in tan leather. Interior appointments include a locking glovebox, a heater, and a Kenwood CD radio wired to speakers mounted in an enclosure behind the seats.
The three-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel features a Jaguar-branded horn button and frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline, as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 64k miles.
The replacement 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. The engine was rebuilt in 2007 by Mountjoy’s Autoshop in Hyattsville, Maryland. The ignition coil was replaced and a Pertronix electronic ignition system was installed in August 2007. The oil was changed in preparation for the sale.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. A Bell exhaust system is equipped.
