This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster has been in the seller’s family since 1997. It has been featured in Moss Motoring magazine and also received a first-in-class award for Jaguar XK and E-Types at the British Cars of New Hampshire Fifth Annual Show of Dreams. Finished in Obsidian Black over black leather, the car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a black convertible top, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ chrome wire wheels, dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, and a Pioneer CD player. The car is now offered by the seller with service records, a luggage rack, various spare parts, and a New Hampshire title in the seller’s name.
The body was stripped and refinished in Mercedes Obsidian Black in 1999. Exterior features include a black soft top, a louvered clamshell hood, a driver-side mirror, wraparound chrome bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets. A chrome luggage rack is included in the sale.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 205/75 Hankook Optimo H724 tires. The car rides on an independent suspension with GAZ shock absorbers installed in the rear. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The brake calipers and pads were replaced in 2021.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with matching carpets and door panels. Amenities include a heater, a locking glovebox, and a Pioneer CD player connected to speakers mounted in the footwells. A removed steering wheel and an AutoMusic Solid State AM/FM radio are included in the sale.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline, as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 79k miles, approximately 30k of which were added under current family ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was factory rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque.
The engine block stamping is shown above, and the sequence matches what is shown on the chassis plate.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Seepage is noted from the oil pan and transmission.
