This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster is believed to have been registered in California since new, and has remained under the care of one family since 1989 with ownership transferring to the daughter of the original owner in 2012. It is finished in Signal Red over beige leather upholstery and has a tan soft top. Power comes from a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, and the car is further equipped with a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ wire wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a CD stereo, and air conditioning. This XKE roadster is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with floor mats, a manual, tools, and a clean California title.

The car is finished in Signal Red and has been repainted, and the tan soft top is a replacement. The bumpers have been rechromed, as has the trim, and the seller notes a ding on the underside of the louvered clamshell hood.

The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with Pirelli P4000 tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors, and the seller tells us that the front suspension was rebuilt ~2k miles ago.

The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in beige leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. A CD stereo has been mounted ahead of the shifter, and the ignition switch was relocated to allow for the air conditioning controls.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 64k miles.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. The carburetors were recently rebuilt and the battery replaced, per the seller, who notes that a valve job and timing adjustments were performed in preparation for the sale by Steve’s Jaguar Services of Canoga Park, California. The car’s maintenance has reportedly been completed by Steve’s Jaguar Services since 1989.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The seller reports that the gearbox and clutch were rebuilt ~14k miles ago.

A spare wire wheel, a jack with a pouch, a knock-off hammer, a top boot, a full zippered tonneau, and an owners handbook are included.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
