1969 Jaguar E-Type 2+2, 90% restored, this car has been a constant companion of mine for the last thirteen years. I am seventy years old and it is time to find the next caretaker for this beautiful machine who can pick up where I left off and continue the journey of restoration. There is hardly an inch on the XKE that hasn't been cleaned, inspected, fixed or replaced, painted and restored. The car has just been painted with the correct Jaguar red for the year. It now needs to be sanded and polished. The engine has been rebuilt and has about 30 hours on it., The main electric lines replaced, carpeting new, dashboard new, all switches working, new wipers and bottles, refinished steering wheel and all lights and blinkers work. I will try to provide more detailed list if required. I have tons of receipts and a picture history on my computer. Items left on restoration include re attaching metal pans under engine, replacing several interior panels in back of car. Hooking up reverse light and mostly minor stuff like that. I need to shine the spokes and under the hood etc etc. This car is going to look gorgeous when all finished and detailed. I plan to keep working on it when I can.

West Coast Classics are proud to present a rare barn find (garage really!) of a totally rust free example of this 1969 Jaguar XKE E-Type Series II 2+2 coupe with a desirable 4 speed manual transmission and a 6 cylinder 4.2L engine in 'Signal Red' with a beautifully kept 'Black' leather seats interior and boasting all five original Jaguar chrome wire wheels and jack!

The "8L" prefix on this cars engine indicates that this engine is a 4.2-liter, 6-cylinder XK engine belonging to a later Jaguar XJ6 Series 3, which was manufactured in the late 1970s through the 1980s. The "L" specifically designates a "long stud" engine block layout, a design refinement Jaguar introduced well after 1969.

The floor boards and all the typical rust-prone areas are completely solid and rust-free. It has a very good repaint in Jaguar's 'Signal Red' color and an as new leather interior, with the door panels, headliner, dashboard and carpets all in very fine condition and with reupholstered front leather seats. The chrome is all very good and the car has it's original chrome wire wheels and spare wire wheel and jack located in the trunk.

The Series II XKE E-Type Jaguar was only built between the years 1969-71 and there were only 5,326 Longer Wheel Base 2+2 coupes built with very few manual transmission models built. This is therefore an extremely rare opportunity to own a very well documented and restored and always rust free exemplary condition survivor 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II 4.2L 2+2 coupe!

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
