This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II coupe was acquired by the current owner in 2009, and a subsequent refurbishment that was completed around 2015 involved repainting the body in black, retrimming the interior in tan leather, and rebuilding the 4.2-liter inline-six. Features include a four-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, 15″ wire wheels, Wilwood front brakes, triple SU carburetors, an aluminum radiator, an auxiliary electric cooling fan, air conditioning, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a digital stereo. This XKE coupe is now offered on dealer consignment with refurbishment records and photos, E-type books, and a Florida title that lists the model year as 1970.
Previously blue, the car was stripped, soda-blasted, and repainted in black around 2010, and the grille opening was repaired. Exterior equipment includes a louvered clamshell hood, triple windshield wipers, a driver-side mirror, side-marker lights, a locking fuel cap, reverse lights, bright trim, wraparound chrome bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets. Delamination on the hood, blemishes in the chrome, and other imperfections are detailed in the seller’s video and photo galleries provided below.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 205/65 Michelin radial tires. Stopping is provided by Wilwood front disc brakes and inboard-mounted rear discs. The steering rack was rebuilt during the refurbishment.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in beige leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpeting. Interior appointments include air conditioning, a heater, a passenger-side grab handle, a locking glovebox, and floor mats. A digital stereo and Polk Audio speakers are fitted to the center stack. Bedliner material was applied to the interior before carpeting was reinstalled during the refurbishment. The A/C does not blow cold.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 59k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was rebuilt around 2010 and is equipped with triple SU carburetors, an aluminum radiator, and an auxiliary electric cooling fan.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The rear axle was rebuilt in 2010.
Refurbishment photos and records are supplied with the car.
The Florida title lists the car’s paint color as an abbreviation for “light blue” and the model year as 1970.
