    Ebay item 7/15/06
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1969-Jaguar-XKE-Type-II-Coupe_W0QQitemZ220 ...
Current bid $3,060 reserve not met, 5 bids, 6 days left in auction. 59k miles.

    Sellers description:
1969 XKE, Series II Fixed Head Coupe. I gotta make room in the garage for my wife's new car. There are fewer than 100 miles on the 2 year old engine and transmission rebuild. This Jag is a real looker, runs strong, very fast, very powerful, and is a joy to drive. When I bought it, the engine had a miss in it and the synchronizers were going bad in 2nd and 3rd gears. The engine was subsequently rebuilt and a new clutch installed by professionals in Nashville, TN. The transmission was completely rebuilt by professionals in Ohio. With finely tuned carbs, this Jag runs like a new one.

The alternator has been replaced due to deteriorating bearings. A new fuel pump was installed, although the old one was ok. The car is glossy, period correct silver over a smooth body with uniform panel gaps. All the original chrome, including wire wheels, is in good condition. All exterior and interior rubber components, bumper to body seals, window gaskets, and door/rear hatch seals, etc. are good. The interior is original matching burgundy leather, carpeting, burgundy door panels, and rear cargo area with no defects and showing little wear. The body is very straight with no apparent hits. The only part not original is a Sony stereo with cassette in good working order with two Sony rear speakers behind the seats. The chrome wire wheels are excellent with new 205/70R15 Firestones. All glass, rear hatch door, chrome trim, and lights are in good working order. Guages and switches are all functional. The ride is tight, brakes and tracks straight, steers and handles very well with no significant oil or fluid leaks. Alan Jackson, the country music star, formerly owned this car around 2001.

The known defects are as follows: (1) An inexpensive piece of chrome doorsill trim is missing on the passenger side. (2) Tach not working-I'm told this may be due to a loose connection or bad sensor, but not checked out. (3) Left headlamp dims at times due to loose connection under the front bumper. (4) Factory AC not working, but compressor is said to be ok. I'm told this may be a loose connection or fuse related, but not checked out. (5) Wiper blades need rubber replaced. (6) Rear speaker wiring is pinched causing intermittent sound. (7) Clock needs new battery. (8) Floor pans solid, but one inch rust bubble over right rear wheel well.

Car offered and sold on eBay with a buy it now of £47,000
    www.ebay.co.uk/itm/332109730379

I am selling my small Jaguar collection including my favorite drivers car- this Etype- plus an XK120 SE and a D Type replica. All cars currently in UK but happy to arrange shipping anywhere. This E Type has been absolutely fantastic! It's been my car of choice on the rare occasions I am in the UK and its sunny. Starts and drives very well every time. Exterior, interior and engine all very good. Not matching numbers. From the other side of the road the car looks perfect, but close up you can see signs of age in the paintwork. The interior is perfect patina, clean and tidy, no scuffs or damage, but still with the perfect 1960's leather smell! originally the car was country and western music legend Alan Jackson in the USA. This is not a concours car, it's a drivers car and with the original colors of silver on red, it's the best classic car colour combination and always attracts praise wherever it goes. Please arrange a viewing asap as I am rarely in the UK and I am keen to sell these cars asap to fund new project. Hence the very reasonable buy-it-now price. This car would be selling for £70,000 or more in a car show room.

On 01-Feb-17 at 08:50:13 GMT, seller added the following information:
You'll note she had triple Webber's on her for a while as she was race tuned by previous owner, none other than ex UK Porsche Champion and the former Marketing Manager of Pirelli, Peter Tyson, who brought us such great calendars! Bytheway a Pirelli calendar will be included in the sale.

The Webber's were removed in favor of triple SU's. You'll see the last image in the Dropbox folder is one of the engine bay I took yesterday, showing the triple SUs- original Jag carbs.

    Car sold again in 2020

    collectingcars.com/for-sale/1969-jaguar-e-type-series-2-4-2-fhc

    1969 JAGUAR E-TYPE SERIES 2 4.2 FHC - LHD

    3,489 km (inaccurate)

    LHD manual

    Largs, North Ayrshire, United Kingdom

    Engine Size 4.2L

    Exterior Silver

    Interior Red leather

This Jaguar E-Type Series 2 Fixed Head Coupe is a well-preserved example of a British classic, presented with an appealing patina, and which runs and drives very well. Under the bonnet sits a 4.2-litre naturally aspirated straight-six engine, producing up to 265bhp and 283lb-ft of torque, paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. The odometer currently indicates 3,489 km, though this is not accurate.

First registered in October 1969, this Series 2 E-Type has been cherished by the vendor for nearly four years and is in good order. When the car was offered for sale in Tennessee, US in 2006, the odometer read 59,125 miles. It is believed that the car was briefly in continental Europe in early 2015, which is assumed to be when the kilometre speedometer was fitted, and it was subsequently imported to the UK and re-registered in May 2015. The true mileage figure is therefore likely to be north of 65,000 miles.

Per information recorded on the XKE Data registry from a previous owner, the engine was totally rebuilt in 2004, as well as the manual gearbox. The owner in 2006 also noted that around five years earlier, the car had been owned by country music star, Alan Jackson, who is known to have a substantial classic car collection.

The bodywork of this E-Type is reported to be in sound condition, finished in an elegant silver hue, which shows some minor bubbling around the rear wheel arches, but nothing that would cause concern. There is a soft dent and scratches near the left-side headlight, and a dull patch of paintwork on the boot, and a blemish near the fuel filler cap. Overall though, this is a 51-year-old car that still looks perfectly presentable to drive on the road. The car rides on a set of wire wheels, which have some superficial corrosion, and are capped with the two-eared Jaguar knock-off hubs.

In the cabin, the red leather upholstery is described as being in very good condition, and may even be original. There is some light creasing on the seats, but no rips or tears in the material. The door panels and sill covers also look smart, while the steering wheel and gear knob have minimal wear. Its red carpets have a vibrant appearance, and have most likely been replaced in the past.

The dashboard controls and instrument gauges are in good order, and as mentioned the speedometer unit has clearly been swapped from its original miles-per-hour clock to the kilometres readout. The Sony stereo and speakers are also a later upgrade. There is a loose connection in the ignition, and the air-conditioning system is currently inoperative, but otherwise the electrics are working correctly.

The last service was undertaken in July 2020 at an indicated 3,313 km, where technicians at SR Auto Services changed the engine oil and filter, before fitting the car with a new battery. The vendor reports similar routine maintenance in summer 2019 and 2018 at the same workshop.

The most recent MOT test was on 16 July 2020 at 3,313 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with two advisories to monitor separate non-excessive oil leaks from the engine and transmission, which is obviously not unusual with a 1960s classic.

This Jaguar E-Type Series 2 FHC is an honest example of a coveted 1960s classic, boasting a handsome colour combination and sound mechanicals. While there are some small cosmetic blemishes that the next owner could attend to in due course, it is eminently usable as-is, and some might say all the better for few signs of use. If you have been seeking an E-Type to take out and enjoy on the road without worrying too much about the odd stone chip or potential scuff, then this is a great opportunity to acquire an example that begs to be driven rather than tucked up in storage.

The description of this auction lot is, to the best of the seller's knowledge, accurate and not misleading. Collecting Cars requests a range of detail about the lot from the seller, and performs a level of due diligence through HPI checks and MOT history where available. However, bidders must satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of the description, and conduct any research they feel is necessary before committing to a bid. Please see our Terms and Conditions for full details.

All UK-registered cars and motorbikes on Collecting Cars are run through an online HPI check. This vehicle shows no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and has no finance owing.
