1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II Fixed Head Coupe – the ultimate experience.

This exceptional, matching-numbers Jaguar E-Type Series II Fixed Head Coupe was comprehensively restored by Neil Tyman Ltd over a two-year period between 2006 and 2008. Since the completion of the restoration, the car has covered just 3,000 miles.

The restoration was carried out with considerable care and attention to detail, with no stone left unturned in creating an E-Type that is as rewarding to drive as it is beautiful to behold.

Photographic records documenting the restoration are retained on file, providing an excellent record of the work undertaken.

Importantly, the restoration was complemented by a carefully considered programme of sympathetic mechanical upgrades, enhancing the performance, handling, braking and usability of the car without compromising its character.

A complete overhaul of the chassis, bodywork and bonnet was undertaken, with particular attention paid to removing all rust and replacing any corroded panels. The result is a thoroughly restored chassis and body, preserved for many years to come.

The engine was entrusted to renowned Jaguar specialists Rob Beere Racing Ltd, where it was comprehensively rebuilt and stroked to 4.7 litres.

The original four-speed gearbox was replaced with a BorgWarner five-speed gearbox, offering greater refinement and improved usability, particularly on longer journeys.

Further upgrades include AP Racing four-pot aluminium front brake callipers with vented discs, adjustable dampers front and rear, improved suspension, upgraded cooling, Minilite-style aluminium wheels, Dunlop Sport tyres 205/65 R15 at the front and 225/60 R15 at the rear, together with a stainless-steel sports exhaust.

The result is an E-Type with considerably enhanced road manners and performance, while retaining the character and visual appeal that make the Series II such an enduring classic.

Exceptional Interior

The interior has been finished to an equally high standard and provides a beautifully appointed environment in which to enjoy this remarkable motor car.

The original Series II seats have been replaced with desirable Series I bucket seats, while a smaller Mota-Lita wood-rim steering wheel contributes to the car’s light and nimble feel. A Becker Classic stereo has been tastefully incorporated, perfectly complementing the period character of the interior.

The interior is trimmed in Tan leather (7609) with brown piping, complemented by Moccasin carpet with tan piping.

A Truly Exceptional E-Type

It is believed that approximately £190,000 has been invested in the restoration and development of this car, resulting in an E-Type that combines a comprehensive restoration with a remarkable level of mechanical refinement.

The driving experience is exceptional. The torquey 4.7-litre engine, fed by triple SU carburettors, delivers impressive performance accompanied by the evocative soundtrack of a properly sorted E-Type. The upgraded gearbox, brakes, suspension and cooling further enhance the car’s usability, making it equally suited to an enjoyable Sunday drive or extended tours.

First registered in September 1970, this right-hand-drive example has had just seven owners from new. Remarkably, the current owner originally owned the car in 1972/73, before purchasing it back in 2000, and has retained ownership ever since.
