This 1970 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster is noted to have been purchased by the current owner in 1971. The car underwent an interior re-trim in gray leather in the mid-1990s as well as a repaint in its current dark blue finish circa 2021 and now shows 57k miles. Power is provided by a 4.2-liter inline-six fitted with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, while shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Additional equipment includes a dark blue soft top, a Bell stainless-steel exhaust system, and 15″ wire wheels as well as a reproduction wood-rimmed steering wheel, retrofitted air conditioning, and a JVC CD stereo connected to Kenwood speakers. This XKE roadster is now offered on dealer consignment in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with partial service records and Ontario registration.
The car was reportedly stripped, fitted with a replacement louvered clamshell hood, and underwent bodywork on the rear quarter panels in 2019 prior to being repainted in dark blue circa 2021. Further details include a dark blue soft top, dual side mirrors, and wraparound chrome bumpers. Various dents and other imperfections can be seen around the body.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by three-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 205/70 Toyo tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
Said to have been refurbished in the mid-1990s, the interior features bucket seats upholstered in gray leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. Further appointments include a retrofitted air-conditioning setup as well as a JVC CD stereo connected to Kenwood speakers.
The reproduction wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 57k miles, all of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 245 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. Records in the gallery indicate that work performed between 2019 and 2024 by Angelo’s Auto Repair of Toronto, Ontario, involved rebuilding the carburetors, repairing wiring, and replacing the fuel pump, water pump, starter, and additional components as detailed below.
Engine stamping 7R10304-9 and a corresponding number is listed on the chassis plate.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The floor pans were reportedly replaced in the mid-1990s, and a Bell stainless-steel exhaust system was installed c.2019. Rust is visible on various underside components. The clutch hydraulic cylinders were replaced in 2021, and the selling dealer notes that the transmission and clutch assembly require service.
