This 1970 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster is finished in British Racing Green with a black soft top over tan leather and is powered by a replacement 4.2-liter inline-six. The car has a louvered clamshell hood as well as open headlights and rides on 15″ knock-off wire wheels coupled with four-wheel disc brakes. Inside, a wood-rimmed steering wheel is accompanied by burl-wood accents as well as a cassette stereo and a heater. Shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission, and further equipment includes a limited-slip differential, dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, and a Bell stainless-steel exhaust system. Acquired by the current owner in 2015, this XKE roadster is now offered by the seller—a BaT Local Partner—in New Jersey with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and a duplicate Florida title in the owner’s name.

The car is finished in British Racing Green and wears a black soft top that requires replacement. The seller tells us that three-stage paint correction was performed in preparation for the sale. Further details include a louvered clamshell hood, sealed-beam open headlights, a driver-side mirror, and wraparound chrome bumpers.

The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 185-width Michelin front and Coker Classic rear redline tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.

The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in tan leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. Burl wood trim adorns the dash, and further interior appointments include a Sanyo AM/FM cassette stereo, a sliding rear-view mirror, a locking glovebox, and a heater. The seller believes that the car may have undergone restoration work under prior ownership that involved re-trimming the interior.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation, including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The seller notes that the speedometer does not work properly. The five-digit odometer shows 8k miles, and total mileage is unknown.

The replacement 4.2-liter inline-six was installed at some point after 2014. The engine breathes through dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, and the car is further equipped with a Bell stainless-steel exhaust system. Photos of the engine block stamping and other identification markings are shown in the gallery below. The seller recommends adjusting the carburetor and performing service work prior to extensive use.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate lists factory colors and identification numbers in addition to a manufacturer date of December 16, 1969.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
