    Car at auction 12/24

    www.carandclassic.com/auctions/1970-jaguar-e-type-series-2-ots-nvO6o4

    Auction description:

    1970 Jaguar E-Type

    Colour Blue

    Odometer 2,362 Kilometres

    Engine size4235cc

    Seller Type Private

    Town Ychoux

    Country France

    Auction ends 3 January, 11:35

Car restored in a beautiful colour

    Reworked blue leather interior

Bodywork in good condition with carefully fitted panels

    Vehicle with matching numbers

This is a magnificent example, finished in a lovely medium opalescent blue with a matching blue interior that has been completely reworked. It also has a matching blue soft top. Inside and out, this car is very well presented, with the fit of the panels, particularly around the doors, a testament to the quality of the restoration work. It is also a model with matching numbers.

    History and documents

    First registration in January 1970

Certificate of Registration in the name of the current owner

Chassis records indicate that this car was manufactured in 1969

Model numbers match, with engine bearing correct prefix 7R

    Original left-hand drive car

    Condition

Attractive medium blue metallic paintwork in very good condition

Restored car with well presented bodywork and paintwork as seen in photos

Bodywork in very good condition with accurate panel fit, particularly to the doors

Solid underbody, floorboards and boot floor as seen in the photos

Chrome wire wheels with white-banded tyres and matching spare wheel

Chrome in good condition with no visible tarnish

Blue fabric soft top in very good condition with clear, undamaged rear window

Chrome luggage rack mounted on boot

Reworked blue leather interior with matching dashboard and console

Well-preserved interior with few signs of age or wear

    E-Type three-spoke wooden steering wheel

Dials and controls in good condition with no reported faults

Equipped with a modern car radio with Bluetooth

A trained eye can always spot a well-restored E-Type. Door fit is a key indicator, as this area is notoriously difficult to perfect due to the complex shapes of the car's sides. This car stands out in this area, with well aligned doors testifying to the quality of the bodywork.

Elsewhere, the quality is equally impressive. The paintwork and chrome are well maintained, with few signs of use. The matching folding top is in good condition with clear glass, and the reworked blue leather interior is impressive. The interior remains mostly original, including the wooden steering wheel, but with a modernised dashboard in blue.

    Mechanicals

    Jaguar XK 4,235 cm³ in-line 6-cylinder engine

    4-speed manual gearbox

Well-maintained engine compartment as shown in the photos

    Vehicle with matching numbers

    Stainless steel exhaust

The 2 Series was the last E-Type - and the last Jaguar sports car - to feature Jaguar's famous XK in-line 6-cylinder engine. Perfected for Le Mans, it's a mechanical gem whose generous torque is one reason why you should buy one of these latest SWB models.

Chassis plates and production records confirm that this is a model with matching numbers, the engine bearing the correct 7R prefix for a Series 2 E-Type. The car is in very good working order, with a well-maintained engine bay and stainless steel exhaust.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
