This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster has remained in the same family since purchased in March 1971 and has been maintained at a shop affiliated with the seller since the early 1990s. The car is finished in Regency Red with a black soft top over black leather upholstery and rides on 15″ knock-off wire wheels coupled with disc brakes at all four corners. Power is from a 4.2-liter inline-six fitted with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, while shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission linked with a limited-slip differential. Inside, the cabin houses bucket seats accompanied by a wood-rimmed steering wheel and a push-button AM/FM radio. This five-decades-family-owned XKE roadster is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owners with its 1971-dated Connecticut title, a tool kit, spare parts, and current Connecticut registration.
The car is finished in Regency Red with black soft top and features a louvered clamshell hood, a driver-side mirror, uncovered headlamps, and wraparound chrome bumpers. The trunk lid springs were changed in June 2021, while work in February 2023 is said to have involved replacing the cantrail rubber along with the antenna.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by three-eared knock-offs and are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. The seller tells us that work in February 2023 involved rebuilding the steering rack, repacking the front hub bearings, safety-wiring the front brake calipers, and replacing the brake pads and rotors.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with a color-coordinated dash, center console, door panels, and carpets. The sliding rear-view mirror was reportedly replaced in February 2023, and further interior appointments include a push-button AM/FM radio, a heater, and a locking glovebox.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 45k miles, approximately less than 4,200 miles of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. The seller notes the following recent work:
June 2021 – Replaced water pump, idler pulley, and belt
February 2023 – Installed spin-on oil filter kit, replaced spark plugs
May 2026 – Replaced battery and rear exhaust hanger, changed oil
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
A tool kit is included in the sale along with a jack, knock-off tool, and hammer. The removed factory oil filter housing and additional spare parts will also accompany the car.
The car is being sold on its Connecticut registration, which serves as an ownership document in Connecticut, and lists “Antique” under the Registered Usage section.
