Description from the seller

IN RISALTO

Rare vintage air conditioning unit “Miami“

Jaguar Heritage Trust

Jaguar Club of North America winner

STORIA/PANORAMICA

Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2 from 1967 (matching numbers), one of the last two-seat FHC Series 1 built before the introduction of the Series 1-1/2. Originally sold in the USA and equipped with a rare "Miami" air conditioning unit!

Bought by the current owner in 2018 in Florida. It was already concours condition and since then kept in a dry place, covered with an interior cover and used sparingly.

The restoration, commissioned by the previous owner (who held it for over two decades) and lasting three years, was completed in the United States in 2005 with an exceptionally high level of care, detail, and precision by a renowned English car specialist, using a technique Americans describe as a “rotisserie.” This involves completely dismantling the car down to the bare shell, which is mounted on a rotating stand allowing the bare shell to be rotated 360 degrees along its longitudinal axis to work on every part of the vehicle comfortably.

This system provides full access to all parts of the car that are normally hard to reach, in particular:

- the underbody

- the floor panels

- the longitudinal members

- the wheel arches

- the internal structures of the body

The 4.2-liter six-cylinder engine, four-speed gearbox, transmission, brakes, suspension, shock absorbers, exhaust, and other mechanical systems were all rebuilt to original specifications.

The interior and upholstery were restored using one of the original colors.

All chrome or stainless steel components were restored or replaced. The dashboard, steering wheel and instrumentation were restored.

The car is equipped with a very rare period air conditioner “Miami” authorized by Jaguar, installed new during the restoration. This allows use of the Jaguar even in warm months without any issue.

Original chromed wheels refurbished and radial tires.

After restoration, the car won first place at the Jaguar Club of North America concours in 2006, 2007 and 2009 with a score of 9.99.

EXTERIOR

Bodywork in excellent condition with no accidents and no rust.

Excellent paint in British Racing Green, one of the original colors, though not the factory color—see the certificate in the photographs: Jaguar Heritage Trust.

All chrome or stainless steel components and badges are new or refurbished.

Original chromed wheels refurbished and radial Pirelli tires.

INTERIOR

Splendid biscuit-colored leather interior, one of the original colors, though not the factory color—see the certificate in the photographs: Jaguar Heritage Trust. Thermal insulation of the cabin from the engine and gearbox significantly improved during restoration, so the heat of the drivetrain is not felt.

Dashboard, door panels, carpet and headlining (imperial) restored.

Steering wheel and instrumentation restored.

New retro AM/FM stereo with Bluetooth and USB connections + hands-free microphone; JBL speakers.

The exterior and interior surfaces have been stripped, primed and restored.

After repainting the base coat, the body was resprayed British Racing Green with a finish that, after nearly 20 years, is still in perfect condition.

MECHANICS

In addition to routine maintenance, it has needed no intervention.

The current owner completed several long trips (also over 1,000 km) without any issues. Since restoration, the car is estimated to have covered no more than about 5,000 km.

4.2-liter six-cylinder engine rebuilt together with the three SU carburettors.

Four-speed manual gearbox rebuilt.

Period air conditioning designed for this model in the USA with Jaguar’s approval.
