1965 Jaguar E-Type Series I 4.2 FHC
Lot Number:
Estimate: £39,000 - 45,000
Result inc Premium: £47,700
V5 Present
MoT Exempt
Chassis number: 1E30897
An ex Californian car in very original, corrosion free condition. Imported to the UK when it was converted to right‑hand drive. The engine was rebuilt by VSE in 2006 when the mileage was recorded at 94,000 and is now approximately 99,000. Other works include the rebuilding of the gearbox and axle by Wilkinsons, fitting of Coopercraft front calipers working on original E‑Type discs, suspension restored to a high standard and all rubber mounts and bushes have been replaced. The seats have been retrimmed and the dash top replaced due to sun damage but the rest of the car has been left untouched. The interior panelling is original together with the headlining, which is a bit worn, the lining to the sun‑roof is missing. The Jaguar build details confirm it as originally a black car. Described by the vendor as a very good driving car in excellent mechanical condition. It comes complete with copy US registration document, MoTs dating from 2008 to 2017 when last issued, letters and receipts. Further details to be updated on car's arrival.

1965 JAGUAR E-TYPE S1 4.2 FHC
Estimate: £45,000 - £50,000

MoT date: 02/09/2026
Chassis number: 1E30897
Engine size: 4235cc
This well-used 1965 Jaguar E-Type S1 FHC is a matching-number example, imported to the UK from California in 1989 and UK registered in 2008. It has been MoT tested most years since then, and currently has an advisory-free MoT to 2nd September 2026. The car has been converted to right-hand drive, and has a canvas sunshine roof which is currently taped up.
The odometer displays 22,577 miles. We sold this car in 2019 when the odometer showed approximately 99,999, so it has been well used since then. The V5C indicates only one former keeper in the UK.
Among the paperwork are old tax discs, MoT certificates, Californian registration cards and various receipts, mostly dating from the car's years in the UK. One of these, dated 2006, describes a gearbox and partial engine overhaul, including a lead-free head conversion. A letter from Jaguar Cars Ltd., dated 1989, confirms that this car was originally manufactured on 31st March 1965 as a black, US-market E-type. Spare keys and a period lubrication chart are also included.
This is an intriguing rolling project Series 1 E-Type, with obvious room for cosmetic improvement, but also ready to enjoy.
