This 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 roadster was initially delivered via Jaguar Cars of New York, finished in Pale Primrose over black leather upholstery. It underwent cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment work from October 2006 to March 2026 that totaled $91k and involved a repaint, fitting a white Everflex vinyl top, reupholstering the black interior, rebuilding the carburetors, installing a replacement fuel tank assembly, and overhauling the exhaust, cooling, and brake systems in addition to replacing, rebuilding, or refinishing various components as detailed below. Power is provided by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes, 15″ wire-spoke wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a Sony head unit. Acquired by the selling dealer in 2026, this XKE Series 1.5 roadster is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, service records, and a clean California title.
The Series 1.5 E-Types featured exposed headlights shared with Series II cars but retained Series I equipment such as a small front grille opening, turn signals mounted above the front bumper, and taillights situated above the split rear bumper. Specified from the factory in Pale Primrose with a black soft top, the car was refinished under prior ownership by Jack L. Hunt, Inc. of San Rafael, California, who completed much of the refurbishment work. A white Everflex vinyl top was equipped, the bumpers and trim were re-chromed, and exterior parts were replaced. Records indicate that the hood was repaired and refinished in 2026 by Lakeville Autobody and Paint of Petaluma.
Replacement wire-spoke 15″ wheels secured by rounded knock-offs were installed and mounted with 205/70 Cooper Grand Touring tires in October 2022. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The brake master cylinder and fluid reservoir were replaced in 2007, and the front brake wheel cylinders, pads, hoses, and fluid were changed most recently in October 2022. The front upper and lower ball joints were replaced in 2008.
The cabin was retrimmed in 2007 by Franzini Bros, Inc. of San Rafael and houses bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include a sliding rearview mirror, and a Sony head unit. The heater was bypassed, and all of the heater/cooling hoses and clamps were replaced in December 2022.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 79k miles, approximately 150 of which were added under current ownership. The clock was converted to quartz movement in 2008.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and is backed by a four-speed manual transmission. Work completed or commissioned through by Jack L. Hunt as part of the refurbishment from 2006-2008 involved rebuilding the carburetors, alternator, and regulator in addition to repairing the cooling and exhaust systems, installing a new fuel tank assembly with fabricated metal fuel lines, replacing the clutch hydraulic cylinders, valve cover gaskets, and various ignition components. The engine bay was also repainted, and the associated invoices are provided.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.
