Ebay item 6/1/14

coolcatz.com, in Youngstown, OH, no expense was spared. The body (number 1E12096) was stripped to the bare metal, mounted on a rotisserie, and properly metal-finished with lead to ensure smooth, straight panels. All body parts and chrome were then test-fitted to the body, to ensure a proper fit, before the body was correctly painted and refinished in an elegant RED, with an amazingly deep shine and finish. The brightwork chrome was all triple-plated to the highest of concours standards, for an amazing shine and depth. Restored chrome wire wheels and new tires compliment the rest of the car. The perfection continues to the underside. EVERY NUT AND BOLT HAS BEEN attended to, including plating, correctly finished floors, new suspension, brakes, bushings, etc.

The BLACK LEATHER interior was fitted with all new, custom-tailored materials, including new leather seats, carpet, door panels, and dashboard covering. The top bows were fully restored before being fitted with a new black convertible top that was custom-sewn and fitted as per original specifications. All dashboard instruments, switchgear, and knobs were properly restored. The trunk has been restored to as new condition as well, the rear wood floors were cut from marine plywood, and finished to the level of furniture.

The ORIGINAL, MATCHING NUMBERS 4.2 LITER ENGINE (number 7E11598-9) was rebuilt to factory specifications with new pistons, oil pump, timing chain, bearings, valves, guides, seals etc. The head and carburetors were fully rebuilt, and the driveshaft was properly balanced. As with all aspects of this restoration, New Old Stock parts were used whenever possible. The only deviation from stock is the 5-speed Tremac transmission developed by XK's Unlimited for this particular car. It increases drivability on our modern roads.

Few E-Types can claim this level of restoration. "Ole Red" is not just another E-Type; she is a world-class Jaguar with attention to detail that is as striking as its very shape. She is well sorted and drives as well as she looks. This is the finest of collector grade cars. If you are seduced by price, this is not the car for you, if you want the finest look no further.

Car returns to ebay 2/26

www.ebay.com/itm/389555496603

Car has a buy it now price of $159,900 for 26 days, seller rk_motors5523, Charlotte, North Carolina, 59k miles

Seller's description:

Transmission: 5 Speed Manual

Engine: 4.2 Liter Inline 6 Cyl

Mileage: 59,654

Finished in Carmen Red over a black leather interior, this E-Type Roadster was meticulously restored by marque specialists at Catz Automotive in Youngstown, Ohio, with the body stripped to bare metal, mounted on a rotisserie, and carefully metal-finished to preserve straight, factory-correct contours. The iconic covered headlights remain in place, giving the car its famously smooth, uninterrupted lines that define the Series I, while triple-plated brightwork and chrome wire wheels wrapped in Coker redline tires complete the period-correct presentation. Power comes from the original, matching-numbers 4.2-liter inline-six, rebuilt to factory specifications during the restoration, paired with a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission developed by XKs Unlimited that provides smoother shifting and an overdrive fifth gear for improved real-world drivability. Jaguar's independent rear suspension with a 3.54 gear ratio and limited-slip differential preserves the balanced ride and handling for which the E-Type is known, while the restored black leather interior, refurbished trim and instrumentation, properly fitted Hartz canvas top, and well-finished trunk reflect the same level of care throughout. Beautifully sorted and genuinely engaging to drive, this 1966 Jaguar E-Type Roadster presents as a refined, investment-grade example of one of the most important sports cars ever built.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
