This Jaguar XKE Series I roadster is believed to have been refurbished prior to being acquired by the selling dealer in 2026. Finished in red with a black soft top, the car features enclosed headlights and rides on 15″ wire-spoke wheels coupled with power-assisted disc brakes at all four corners. Inside, black leather–trimmed seats are accompanied by a wood-rimmed steering wheel and a push-button Blaupunkt radio. Power is from a 4.2-liter inline-six fitted with triple SU carburetors as well as a stainless-steel exhaust system and headers, while shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission linked with a limited-slip differential. This XKE Series I roadster is now offered in Sykesville, Maryland, with a New Jersey title listing the car as a 1966 model.
Series I E-Types were equipped with covered headlights and taillights mounted above the chrome rear bumpers. This example is believed to have been repainted red at some point under previous ownership. Additional equipment includes a black soft top, a louvered clamshell hood, a driver-side mirror, and triple windshield wipers. The selling dealer notes various paint imperfections around the car.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 205/70 Pirelli P4000 tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with a color-coordinated dash, door panels, and carpets. Interior appointments include a sliding rearview mirror, a heater, and a push-button Blaupunkt AM/FM radio. The selling dealer notes wear on various interior surfaces.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 84k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership.
Factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque, the 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and is linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The cylinder head is believed to be a replacement unit, and the engine is further equipped with a stainless-steel exhaust system and headers. Rust is visible on the underside of the hood.
The cylinder-head and block stampings are shown above. The latter matches the number on the chassis plate.
The chassis plate lists car number 1E11781, which aligns with a 1965 Jaguar XKE Series I 4.2 Roadster. The right-front corner of the chassis is stamped with the sequence 877089, which is consistent with a 1962 Jaguar XKE Series I 3.8 Roadster, while the body tag stamping in the trunk matches the 4E3213 body number listed on the chassis plate.
The New Jersey title lists the car as a 1966 model using the 1E11781 car number from the chassis plate and carries an “Actual Mileage” notation under the Status heading.
