Sellers description:
1971 Jaguar E-Type Coupe with low 120k original miles, factory air conditioning, and excellent original interior. Rare special-order color combination, a silver-green with burgundy interior. I purchased this Series II Coupe a year ago from a Berkeley engineer, who had been storing it in his garage, undriven since 1985 (please see registration tags). He bought the car in 1972 or so, and he drove it for just over a decade. He parked it because it had a rear-brake issue. I purchased it, and we did an extensive restoration: new paint in its original color; all new body rubbers; new factory-matched carpet (the rest of the interior was in amazing original condition); trim pieces were re-chromed as needed; my techs cleaned the fuel system; the carburetors were professionally rebuilt; the steering rack was removed and sent out to be rebuilt; brakes were redone; undercarriage was ice-blasted and floors were painted to match the car; and too many other details to list. This is a solid California Jaguar with blue license plates and zero rust anywhere. The engine runs exceptionally well. The factory a/c system is complete, but we did not attempt to charge it because freon is unavailable in California.

Lot #144228
This 1971 Jaguar XKE Series II coupe was acquired by the seller in 2022, and subsequent work involved installing a 2.88:1 gear set, porcelain manifolds, and a stainless-steel exhaust system as well as replacing the tires, rear shocks, and clutch master cylinder. The car is finished in silver over red leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. It has 15″ wire wheels, a leather-wrapped Nardi steering wheel, and a Clarion cassette player. This XKE coupe is now offered with removed parts and a clean Tennessee title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in silver and equipped with sealed-beam open headlights, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, a louvered clamshell hood, and dual exhaust outlets.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with Universal Sport Radial Redline tires, which the seller notes were installed under current ownership along with the rear shocks. Components for the power steering system have been removed and are included in the sale.
The cabin houses bucket seats upholstered in red leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. A Clarion cassette player is equipped, and the clock has been converted to quartz movement. Components for the air conditioning system have been removed and are included in the sale.
The leather-wrapped Nardi steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline, while auxiliary gauges are housed in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 24k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The warning lights for the turn signal and handbrake on the instrument panel do not work.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 245 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. Porcelain manifolds and a stainless-steel exhaust system have been installed. The valves were reportedly adjusted in 2022, while the engine oil and air filter were replaced in 2023. The seller notes that the oil pressure indicator reads 30 psi when cruising and approximately 20 psi at idle.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The seller states that the clutch master cylinder was replaced in 2023 and that a 2.88:1 gear set is installed. Rust on underbody components is visible.
