Car was sold at auction in '02
www.cheffins.co.uk/version2/vintage/carsmotorcycles/catalogues/archive/
Sold at £13800

Auction description:
1972 Jaguar V12 Fixed Head Coupe
Registration Number: BPX 6L
Chassis Number: IS51343
Engine Number: 7S8077SB
Built on the 20th September 1972, this beautifully original V12 E-type was not registered until January 1973. This delay can be explained by the car's first port of call, to dealers Wadham Stringer where the car was run on trade plates as a demonstrator. On the 19th January 1973, a Mr Robert Tyrell became the car's first 'real' owner and enjoyed it for two and a half years.
In July 1975 the car was sold on to Brian Cox and has remained in his family's ownership ever since. Soon after purchasing the car, Mr Cox moved to Paris where he became resident and the car stayed little used in his underground garage, on its British plates.
1985 saw the E's return to the U.K. for a family wedding when U.K. customs noticed the ten year old tax disc. Catching the authorities on a good day, the purpose of the visit was explained and car and driver allowed to proceed, returning to Paris three days later.
The car made its second return journey to England in early 2000 when it was passed from father to son. Prior to this journey, fuel, oil, coolant and brake fluid were changed and upon reaching the U.K. the car was booked in to, and passed its first ever MOT test.
The mileage of 34,109 miles is certainly correct from new and the condition of this thirty year old car reflects this.
Finished in Old English White with a black leather interior and chrome plated steel wheels, the car is something of a time-warp example. The only blemish to the body being poor finishing to lead-loading of the offside rear wheel arch as it left the factory. Paperwork with the car is minimal but everything is in place to explain its unusual history.
A V5 document accompanies the car, but as it was never French registered there is no French documentation, except a bill for re-conditioning the rear axle in 1993. Moving to France before it required its first MOT and not returning until 2000 has kept certificates to three only.
The car represents a unique opportunity to acquire a low mileage 'mothballed' V12 in single family ownership since 1975 and still in exceptional condition.
Estimate: £16,000-£18,000
