This 1973 Jaguar E-Type is a Series III roadster that is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission and was purchased by its current owner in 1987. The car is finished in silver over a red leather interior and equipped with a chrome luggage rack and aftermarket Alpine stereo. Service in the last two years included a new battery, radiator hose, and left muffler. This Series III roadster is offered by the seller on behalf of a friend with service records covering his ownership, a tool kit and spare tire, literature, and a clean California title in the owner’s name.

The exterior is finished in silver, with the condition of the paintwork detailed by photos in the galley below along with that of the black soft top and other trim. The seller notes blemishes around the door edges and on the hood as well as wear in the corners of the top. Included records note prior work on the left fender, door, and quarter panel.

Chrome 15″ wire wheels wear 205/70 Pirelli P4000 tires. A luggage rack is equipped out back and factory-style quadruple exhaust tips.

The cabin is trimmed in red leather with matching door panels, replacement red carpet, and stock late-model rocker switches. An Alpine CD player has replaced the original radio. The 5-digit odometer shows 54k miles, 25k of which were added by the current owner. Sagging sun visors are noted by the seller.

The 5.3-liter V12 is paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Maintenance in the last two years included installation of a new battery, radiator hose, and left muffler as well as an oil change and electrical work.

Some corrosion under the right rear rocker panel.

A history file containing records dating to 1987, handwritten mileage logs, a list of the car’s three previous owners, and older photos is included in the sale along with a tool kit, spare tire, and assorted literature.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
