This 1964 Jaguar XKE coupe is a left-hand-drive Series 1 model finished in dark blue over a dark blue leather interior and is powered by a modified numbers-matching 3.8L inline-six paired with a Borg-Warner T5 five-speed manual transmission. The current owner purchased the car in 1998 and commissioned a multi-year cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment that was completed in 2006. Modifications include Wilwood brake calipers with ventilated discs, aftermarket camshafts, a reworked cylinder head producing 10:1 compression, stainless steel exhaust headers, an aluminum radiator, and triple SU carburetors built by Joe Curto Inc. Additional equipment includes split chrome bumpers, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, and a Becker Europa AM/FM radio. This XKE Coupe is now offered on dealer consignment with its removed bucket seats and front bumper bar, refurbishment photos, and transferable Connecticut registration.
Previously red, the body was refinished in its current dark blue as part of the refurbishment completed in 2006. Features include split chrome bumpers with overriders, glass headlight covers, louvers on the rear of the bonnet, and polished moldings. The factory center front bumper bar has been removed and is included in the sale.
15″ chrome knock-off wire wheels are wrapped in 185-width Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Modifications include stiffer torsion bars, Wilwood brake calipers, ventilated brake discs, and stainless braided brake hoses.
The cabin was overhauled as part of the refurbishment completed in 2006 and is trimmed in dark blue leather with matching door panels, navy blue carpets, and a black dash. Equipment includes dark blue lap belts, a polished shift knob, and a Becker Europa push-button AM/FM radio.
The wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock. Auxiliary gauges for water temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are mounted in the center of the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 3k miles, which is believed to be the distance driven since the refurbishment was completed in 2006. True mileage is unknown.
The factory 3.8-liter inline-six features dual overhead camshafts and triple Joe Curto-built SU carburetors. The cylinder head was reportedly rebuilt during current ownership to produce a 10:1 compression ratio, and additional equipment includes aftermarket camshafts, stainless steel exhaust headers, and an aluminum radiator.
The stampings on the engine block and the cylinder head read “RA2730-9”, which matches the engine number on the underhood data tag.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Borg-Warner T5 five-speed manual transmission sourced from Classic Jaguar.
