This 1963 Jaguar XKE Series I 3.8 roadster was refurbished under previous ownership in red over red leather upholstery, and it is powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a black fabric soft top, chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, triple SU carburetors, chrome bumpers, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a push-button radio. The car was acquired by the seller in December 2021, and service in 2022 included polishing the aluminum engine components, flushing the radiator, and replacing the clutch, engine seals, exhaust manifolds, exhaust system, front shocks, cooling fan, and brake master cylinder. This Series 1 XKE is now offered with a tool roll, a factory jack, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, recent service records, and Georgia registration in the seller’s name listing the car as a 1964 model.
The car was delivered new in Opalescent Silver Gray and was repainted in the current shade of red under previous ownership. Features include a replacement black fabric soft top with an integrated lead damping pouch as well as a top boot, glass headlight covers, a louvered hood, central dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers with overriders.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels secured with two-eared knock-offs are mounted with 185-series Avon tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The brake master cylinder and front shocks were replaced under current ownership.
The interior features low-back bucket seats trimmed in red leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Additional details include a center console, a heater and defroster, lap belts, and a push-button radio.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an inset analog clock, and centrally mounted auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 29k miles, approximately 100 of which were added by the seller, and true mileage is unknown.
The 3.8-liter inline-six features dual overhead camshafts and triple SU carburetors. Service since May 2022 included polishing the cam covers, intake manifold, and carburetor tops along with repainting the engine and engine accessories, flushing the radiator, installing a CoolCat radiator fan, and replacing the front and lower engine seals, the exhaust manifolds, engine mounts, coolant expansion tank, and exhaust system.
The number RA3091-9 stamped on the cylinder head and engine block matches the number on the chassis plate and the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. The flywheel was resurfaced and the clutch and slave cylinder were replaced under current ownership.
The included Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate shows factory colors and options and lists October 29, 1963 as the car’s date of dispatch.
