Vehicle Description: My Jag is a nice car ... it is an EXCELLENT driver; NOT a show car. I have had it for about 4 years, and I purchased it locally (northern NJ) from someone that had owned it for the previous 20 years. He bought it in eastern Pennsylvania - I do not know the history of the car prior to that. I have service records for it from about 1978 or so. I know the car has been professionally maintained and kept inside since that time. I purchased it because it was complete and straight, as I wanted a car I could drive often and enjoy. It has had some body work done to it, although there is no evidence that it has ever been in an accident. A few minor dings and dents ... nothing that really distracts the eye. It was repainted probably around 20 years ago ... it is navy in color, and looks to be a few shades darker than the original blue. It appears almost black in photos. The paint job was not of the highest quality, but it does buff up nicely. The interior is all black; carpets have been replaced, the dash top has been replaced, and the original seats have been recovered in a high quality black leather. The soft top is white, in very good condition ... it operates well and the vinyl windows are clear and untorn. It has a new tonneau cover in black. I do not have a hardtop. I have the original jack, a car cover, and a spare wire-wheel. I do not have the original tool kit, and the gear shift knob is not original. Regarding rust, there is no rust under the carpets. There is no rust in the trunk. There is a rust hole about the size of a quarter in the right rear wheel well, towards the rocker panels. The person I bought the car from said it was there when he bought the car. The mechanic I used told me it was not of concern to the structure of the car. There is a rust "split" near the bottom left front rocker panel, probably from debris being kicked up by the front wheels. It is not obvious when looking at the car. The gas tank was removed and professionally cleaned, sealed and painted, and reinstalled with a new fuel pump. The body panels (hood, doors, trunk, top) all fit and operate fine. It has never been flooded to my knowledge. Again, as I wanted a reliable driver, I have focused the work I have done on mechanical operations and safety. The work has all been completed by a well-known specialist in Central NJ. The rear-end has been completely removed from the car and rebuilt to show condition. Complete brake/brake lines, shocks, suspension, seals, bushings ... the works. It's gorgeous and operates beautifully. The engine has had major top-end work completed. Since I have owned it, I have not removed the engine or gone into the pistons, as it does not need it. I did however, have the carbs, fuel sytem, heads, valves, radiator, water pump, tachometer, resevoirs, starter, and much more all completly rebuilt, polished, painted, and fine-tuned. The engine block was painted, and all the aluminum has been professionally polished (carbs, heads, etc). It looks beautiful, and runs even better .. very strong, very smooth. It does not have the correct battery hold-down hardware, and the battery tray should be replaced. I have not done any work to the transmission, and have not noticed any problems at all. The clutch can slip on hard acceleration. The engine block is not original, but the heads, carbs, etc are. I believe the engine block and tranmission to be from a later E-Type, as the trans has synchronized first gear. So, the engine block numbers do not match, but the heads do. It does not leak or burn a drop of oil ... you are more than welcome to inspect my garage floor as proof! The front suspension, shocks, bushings and brakes/brake lines have also been completely rebuilt. It has a matching set of Siempert tires on the original knock-off wire wheels. The tires have plenty of tread, but they are probably old. Handles great. The car runs wonderfully. I have been driving it regularly to keep seals, etc from drying out. All gauges and lights operate fine. The clock works sporadically. The car is safe and reliable ... I would not hesitate taking it on a long road trip, as-is. It is currently registered and insured with a clean title. Please ask about anything I may have missed.
