Car returns to ebay 3/19/10
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1962-Jaguar-E-Type-Roadster-Rare-Extra-Eng ...
Current bid $15,000 reserve not met, 1 bid 9 days left in auction.
Sellers descripiton:
1962 Jaguar Convertible Old Classic. (Car number 876295). This is a 1962 Jaguar E Type Roadster original flat floor design series 1 with a 3.8 liter engine, this car was manufactured in Dec. 1961, which is the early 3.8 -liter often labeled “Flat Floor “. Jaguar started building a version with dish foot wells in 1962 , chassis # 876582 and also the early E Type had welded bonnet louvers . The 3.8 liter engine has been replace with a 1969 4.2 liter engine {engine # 7R40024-9} with Synchromesh Transmission 6 cylinder overhead cam, I still have the original 3.8 liter engine and original 4 speed transmission that will be sold with the car (engine # R2704-9). At the time I had the 3.8 engine and trans took out their was nothing wrong with it, 3.8 had approximately 160 thousand miles. I just wanted a 4.2 liter engine and synchromesh transmission I though this would give the car more Performance, but in my opinion the original 3.8 engine had better performance, The 3.8 engine come with a 3 SU Carburetor setup with air cleaner. Extra engine and trans along with the car has been kept under cover to protect them. The body is solid and rust free. The clutch fells good the brakes stop the car well. The doors open and close well. The car was repainted in the 70’s Imperial Maroon color, (the original color was Carmen Red) The paint does show some signs of wear, pant chips on the hood, the chrome has some light pitting, it is really in good shape for it age. Car has the original chrome wire wheels which is the Curly hub they are in excellent condition, the original top is in great condition (seals are great). The interior is in good condition, leather Red seat but not Connelly seat with some minimal wear… The center of the dash is covered with a wood grain vinyl ( the dash is the original but has wood vinyl on it can be removed ) all the gauges works, oil pressure is around 43 pounds, headlights are in working order ,all keys locks also works , the car does need new tires.
Recently had a tune -up included rebuilt carburetor a new fuel pump all engine seals are good there are no oil leaks, fluids have been checked. The car runs and drives good, but I would suggest for a long haul to be put on a trailer because of being in storage app. 4 years other than over the summer for a tune-up.
How I Got My Car :
Got this car my senior year in high school and was kept in the garage as I went of to college my Dad also drove this car along with me, this car as been in my family for many years therefore the mileage added up, I became the second owner in 1965 and replace the engine and trans in 1970 with 1969 4.2 liter. This car was absolute joy to drive, all the documentation such as repair bills - bill of sale and the owners manual and tools and jack was stolen from my car but I have the service manual and cooper mallet.
Extra Engine and trans: Will be included in the auction sale price .
Location:
This car in is Norris Tennessee.
