Car to be at auction 10/2/10
www.coys.co.uk/fpA205.php

Auction description:
The Spirit of Motoring - Ascot Racecourse, Berkshire, SL5 7JX
Saturday 2nd October 2010 at 3pm
1963 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 Litre – One Owner From New
Lot 132
Registration Number: 342 EOW
Chassis Number: 861245
Estimate: £32,000- £37,000

This particular example offered here has been owned all its life by an eminent Architect who purchased the vehicle in 1963 after nearly falling asleep at the wheel of his Vauxhall Velox as he sped up the M1. Now in his 90’s the owner has decided somewhat reluctantly to relinquish ownership.

Demand for the E-Type outstripped supply to the UK in the first few years of production and the owner took delivery of the car despite the car being delivered in a colour not entirely of his liking. It was resprayed quite early in its life in the attractive shade of olive green. At the same time the rear light clusters were resprayed in body colour in accordance with the owners wishes.

The car was used every day until the 1970s.It was then mothballed until the owners retirement in the late 1980s when it was treated to a full restoration. Used sparingly since the one owner vehicle represents a unique opportunity to acquire a one owner Series 1 FHC Jaguar E Type.

The owner has in the past few months had a new clutch fitted – the cars third since new-and a new set of Dunlop tyres as the previous Aquajets were 18 years old. Naturally the owner informs us that the mechanicals are on the button and the car runs brilliantly. Coy’s are proud to offer this once in a life time opportunity to become the second owner of a 1963 3.8 E-type.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
