Car to be at auction 3/12
    www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

    Auction description:
    Lot 336 - 1964 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8 Litre Roadster
    Estimate: £65,000 - £75,000
    Registration Number: FNK 876B
    Chassis Number: 850829

This original right-hand drive roadster was originally distributed through Henlys Ltd of London; the original dealers were Lex Garages of Wembley and they sold it new to Oridon Investments in Berkshire on 13th March 1964.

The car is still finished in its original colour scheme of Carmen Red, with a black hide interior. It still retains its original registration number and has undergone a great deal of restoration work to a very high standard.

This is supported by an extensive history file containing a V5 document, Heritage Trust Certificate, Jaguar Operating, Maintenance and Service Handbook, a fresh MoT certificate as well as numerous old examples, and, importantly, a large quantity of bills and receipts for work carried out throughout its life totalling over £17,000 from specialists such as The Vintage Wireless Company, Lovett Sporting, GB Engineering and David Manners.

A highly usable and well-sorted Classic, which is ready for the road and is without doubt a prize for any true connoisseur of one of Britain's most famous and revered marques.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
