850087 was reportedly sold new in South Africa, but was later brought to England. It was used to illustrate an article on early E-types by Ed Derohanes that appeared in the March 1986 Jaguar International Magazine. The car was also featured on the cover, and appeared to be in good, original condition. It was advertised in the May 1986 Hemmings Motor News, from New York.

The Franklin Mint used this car for their model. They changed the color to BRG, but everything else is correct. I can prove it because it has a grey hood liner. It should be tan. I mentioned that to them when they came up to measure the car for the model, but I guess they forgot.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
