In 1993, I purchased this vehicle from a local gentleman. He stated that it was one of the last Series II cars produced. The vehicle was disassembled - window glass, bonnet (hood), chrome, lighting, engine/transmission were removed. I purchased the car because it had ZERO RUST and nobody likes fixing rust. I sent the body out for a strip and repaint (original color was office machine grey/tan) and the engine was sent out for a rebuild. Fast forward a couple of years - body completed and engine rebuilt. Another year or two passes and I decide to let Raspi's British in Edgewood, Maryland start the reassembly process - Raspi's had the car for about four years. During this period much work was done on the car - engine/tranny reinstalled, carb rebuilt, radiator reconditioned, front suspension/brakes cleaned, painted and rebuilt, alternator wiring harness replaced, new clutch, new master cylinders, new hydraulics, etc. I get the car back from Raspi's and feel like I can finish it. Over the next couple of years the lighting was reinstalled, some of the glass was reinstalled (including a new windscreen and related trim). Unfortunately, my interest in classic cars really began to fade... Anyway, in conclusion, here is what needs to be done to complete this cat. The chrome trim needs to be reinstalled - it has been either replated or replaced. The weather stripping need to be glued on - bought and paid for early on and included with car. The interior needs to be finished - I purchased new carpeting and door panels and a new headliner has been installed. The remainder of the interior is original and is quite presentable. The heater assembly needs rebuilding - it is removed and will be included with the car. The rear brakes need serviced and a new set of tires will be necessary. Well, there it is in a nutshell. I started to tally my investment in this project and stopped when it exceeded $30k - my loss is your gain. In the interest of full disclose the right side frame assembly was welded to correct what looked like stress cracks - plates were welded to the frame by a professional body shop. The car will also need some very minor touch-up here and there due to assembly blunders - THIS IS NOT AMERICAN HOT ROD! Lastly, I might add that the paint was done in British Racing Green enamel with clear applied over all - the only area not resprayed was where the spare tire and gas tank (reconditioned) live. This paint job is MUSEUM QUALITY! The actual paint color is darker than what is indicated in most of the pictures due to poor photographic skills on my part.

1971 Series II E-type. This is a two seat coupe not a 2 plus 2. I have had this car since 1993. It was purchased in a disassembled state and went through a total restoration that took a long time. It was finally completed about two years ago. Everything on this car was repainted, replaced, rebuilt, etc. The last hurdle was the rear suspension rebuild which was finished two years ago. Much of the work was done by professional shops with the bulk of the mechanical restoration being done by Raspi's British in Edgewood, Maryland. The reasons I took on this project were - I always wanted an E-Type, the price of admission was reasonable, and there was NO RUST ON THE CAR ANYWHERE, PERIOD. The car went through a color change from Fawn to British Racing Green - I think this is the best color for this car. The color change was complete - all visable areas were repainted including the frame rails and the spare tire area. I have over $60k invested and I know that I will never recover this cost. If you are thinking about restoring one of these please reconsider and buy the best car you can find. The economics of restoring cars is tricky and even if you do all of the work yourself you will still be upside down at the end. This car drives as you would expect a new E-Type to drive if you could buy one. Although the clock is showing approximately 50k I have only driven this car a couple of thousand at the most since restoration.

I took over ownership in 2011 and have spent the past year and half tweeking emergency brakes, hoses, heating system, oil leaks, electrical and some chrome and cosmetic work. Car runs very strong, starts right up is very fast and handles well.
