Ebay item 10/19/22

www.ebay.com/itm/165731878309

Opening bid $75,000 reserve not met 0 bids buy it no price $89,500 seller francisco.fourneaux 6 days left in auction, 48k miles.

Seller's description:

-The older British man I bought this car from in 2020 had it approximately 45 years (check out the 1977 NJ Inspection sticker). One of the rarer "2R" series 2 which were the last off the production line with some nice updates.

-He kept this in immaculate driving condition. When this came on my radar I knew if there was ever going to be an E Type in my life, this was the right one.

Facts I can state about the car:

-Original matching numbers jaguar. I have the jaguar heritage certificate from Coventry, England verifying everything.

-It's not a pain in the ass as I imaged owning a jaguar might be (I have italian cars for that)

-Entire front and rear end have been completely rebuilt to new.

-Exhaust system looks like it was rebuilt or replaced, sounds amazing, and is in perfect condition

-Original spoked wheels with two spares (I have one in the car and one in my shop)

-Has Factory AC (I think? Someone is welcome to correct me) although I have never used it

-Power Steering was added by previous owner - and its lovely

-Original Carb air filter box replaced with individual filters for better performance (I do not have the original box).

-Paint is 8/10 for what I think is original (great shine and nice patina) Primerose Yellow

-Interior is 10/10

-Undercarriage is 9.5/10

-Car started right up ater sitting 2+ months while I was out of town

-Body panels and the doors are 9/10 which is a hard thing to find on these

-I have the original US orange side markers and running lights (I had swapped for European). I also have a conversion kit for the tail lights to make the reverse lights integrated - if you fancied that.

There are some quirks to be expected with a 52 year old British car. I have gone through mostly everything at this point save for a couple small things I have not had time to address this season:

-occasionally the small idle lever on the forward carb gets stuck and creates a higher idle. This may just be an issue where the rod is too tight controlling both levers - or it needs lubrication. The two times it has happened I just manually lower it down with my finger and it has stayed that way through the day driving.

-every once and a while you turn the ignition and just get a “click” rather than it turning over - have to try a couple times and then it goes. I believe there is a wire not making a good connection with the starter. I tightened once, it was great, and as of today it seems to be doing it again. Quick fix I just have not had time to address.

-the brake master cylinder should probably be overhauled with new seals / diaphragm or at least have the vacuum checked. I do not think it needs any new hoses as they seem good and I have looked for leaks. The brake pedal I notice has a tendency to have this vacuum effect when pushing it down (where it can give you more brake than you want). Other than the above two that is really the only thing that I have not gotten to since having the car.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
