Car was on ebay 12/20/'08
Buy it now price $14,000, Austin, Texas
Sellers description:
This is a super low mileage (less than 25,000) 1971 Jaguar E Type 2+2 V12 with automatic transmission and factory air conditioning.
When we first saw this car a few years ago, it was a virtually rust free starting point for what was to be a total restoration. Unfortunately, the owner fell seriously ill and the project was cancelled at an early stage. The only corrosion in the entire car had been a small area in the boot compartment, underneath the gas tank, and in the lower corners of the firewall bulkhead kick panels. We repaired the trunk floor (now invisible), replaced the bulkhead kick panels and stripped the rest of the car to bare metal. We cut off the outer sills to make sure there wasn't any corrosion within - and there was not. We sealed everything up with top quality epoxy primer and welded new outer sills into place. The new owner can rest assured, the sheet metal throughout this car is in perfect condition. It is absolutely, 100% rust free! No filler work or panel gap work has been done. Just bare metal sealed with epoxy primer. As a bonus, the bonnet for the car is a new old stock item. It has never been installed on a car. The picture and hinge frames appear to be in excellent condition. The engine side frames may be serviceable, although they should be blasted and carefully inspected before being re-used. Worst case scenario, you may need to buy a new set of engine side frames.
The engine is original, spins freely and the number match. Motor and transmission are NOT installed in the car.
This car is virtually complete. To the best of our knowledge, it is not missing any significant components. All the glass and chrome is present and in good shape. Consumable items will have been discarded during disassembly if it was assumed they would be replaced with new during the course of the restoration (such as carpet, rubber seals, etc).
There are a number of significant new parts included in the sale, including much of the wiring harness, a complete major rubber seal kit, a hose kit, CJ shock absorbers, springs, poly bushings, bronze bushings, billet rack mounts, etc, etc. There may be other new stuff in some of the boxes and crates that I haven't gone through. Some items have already been stripped and powder coated, others, such as the front suspension components, have been blasted and Nickel plated. As well as new "Walker" exhaust silencers and pipes, there is also a set of very serviceable, lightly used, four outlet "Ansa" rear exhaust pipes.
Although this car is completely disassembled, and would therefore be a major challenge to get back together and on the road, it also represents an almost unique opportunity for a DIY home restorer, because of the condition of the body.
This car is being offered for sale through other channels and we therefore reserve the right to end the auction at any time prior to the reserve price being met. The roll-a-round jig upon which the body is currently sitting is NOT included in the sale. However, it may be purchased for an additional $500 by the winning bidder, if he/she so wishes.
This car is being sold as is. Inspections are recommended and encouraged. No warranty of any kind is being offered by the seller. The car is available for inspection (by appointment, normal office hours) at Classic Jaguar in Austin, Texas

Ebay item 10/2/23
Car has a buy it now price of $109,950 for 6 days, seller parkplaceltd, 100miles, Bellevue, Washington
Seller's description:
This 1971 Jaguar E-Type Custom Roadster is the perfect embodiment of what can be done with these cars, and how far you can take them to truly make one your own. Although some of the modifications on this car are unconventional, many of them are reversible and the overall finish of the vehicle is very high thanks to a comprehensive restoration which concluded in 2019. Finished in Opalescent Silver Blue Metallic, the paint on this E-Type is excellent throughout and the various graphics and striping on the car is just vinyl on top. One highly desirable upgrade that was carried out is the addition of an early-style closed headlight hood, which would not have come on a car this late and gives the car a far more streamlined appearance. Of the many unique pieces of this car, the rear spoiler and diffuser are without a doubt the largest variation from the stock car. Made out of aluminum, these pieces feature auxiliary lighting and do dovetail nicely with the fin which runs down the center of the car and is somewhat reminiscent of that seen on Jaguar D-Types of the 1950s. If you are looking to have an E-Type that you won’t see anywhere else, it’s hard to do better than this, but also, underneath these easily removable pieces is a truly top-notch example.
The custom touches carry on into the interior which has been upholstered in Blue and Silver with a pair of sport seats that feature intricate stitching and special riveting down the center. The builder of this Jaguar was clearly familiar with race cars and installed a competition car style control panel on the dashboard with auxiliary switches to control all of the car’s various systems. In the center console, another switch panel has been installed with individual blade-style fuses visible and ready to be swapped out if any system begins to act up while driving. An original style black wrinkle finish dashboard remains but it has been fitted with AutoMeter gauges to keep better track of the car’s vitals and a Kenwood stereo head unit has been installed in front of the passenger.
Whoever the builder of this car was clearly did not skimp on costs and the place that shows the most is under the hood. To start, an all new E-Type Fabs subframe was installed up front with a combination of Brass and Polyurethane bushings used to insure tight handling and minimal upkeep. Then, in place of the notoriously trouble-prone V12, a new 5.7-Liter Chevrolet V8 crate engine was installed which has less than 100 miles on it. This engine is not only more powerful than the original motor but, thanks to a Holley Sniper EFI, it is more reliable and far easier to work on, making it a very worthwhile upgrade. This is connected to a 5-speed manual gearbox that then sends power out to the rear wheels. A set of side-exhaust pipes gives the car a great rumble and widened wire wheels help keep the car planted on the road.
Although the styling and design choices can always be debated on custom cars, one thing that can always be appreciated is build quality and the use of high end parts. This Jaguar E-Type may have a number of polarizing modifications on it, but under the skin, it is a very high quality restoration and whoever is lucky enough to put it in their driveway, will be able to enjoy a fantastic driving experience in one of the world’s most beautiful cars.
