Ebay auction 10/17/03
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $10,500.00, reserve not met, 1 bid, 8 days left in auction. 52k on the odo.

Sellers comment:
This 2+2 coupe has V12 power that gives all the needs for a speed demon. Has all original parts including the a/c and heating components, the Jaguar spoke rims that originally came on the car in 1971. We had the headliner and visors replaced with OEM. There is no rust anywhere on this beast and the paint is still shining. As the second owner since 1975, we hate to get rid of this but it must go. Has been garaged and only taken out on golfing sundays.

Vehicle Condition
has not been in a assident or needed any special repairs to the body. It needed to be tuned and flushed, because it had been sitting for so long. but it does go and i mean go.

Sellers description:
1971 XKE WITH 52470 ACTUAL MILES. IT COMES WITH AUTHENTIC BRITISH SPOKE WHEELS, WHICH ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THIS CAR HAS BEEN A SUNDAY DRIVER FOR THE PAST 11 YEARS. IT HAS HAD 2 PREVIOUS OWNERS WHO GARAGED IT THE WHOLE TIME. IT HAS SPENT ITS TIME WITH ME GARAGED AND COVERED. THIS IS THE ORIGINAL PAINT. IT HAS 2 COATS OF POLISH AND 2 RECENT COATS OF WAX...AGAIN. MOST OF THE PAINT SHINES UP TO NEAR NEW...AFTER 37 YEARS, NOT BAD. OVER THE REAR FENDERS, THERE ARE PAINT "HAIRLINE CRACKLES" MERELY FROM AGE. THERE ARE A FEW DOOR "DINGS" WHICH I HOPE THE PICTURES WILL DISCLOSE. ALL NUMBERS ABSOLUTELY MATCH. EVERYTHING IS ORIGINAL AND "PRISTENE". THIS VEHICLE DRIVES STRAIGHT AND TRUE. ROAD SALT AND RUST....CLEAN....NEVER DRIVEN IN THE WINTER.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
