Car was at auction in 10'08
www.motorbase.com/auctionlot/by-id/1292839337/

Auction description:
First registered in April 1974, this Jaguar E-Type V12 manual has had just two owners from new and has covered less than 44,000 miles, warranted. The current vendor has owned the car since 1980 as part of a collection of classic Jaguars and it has always been kept garaged during this time. About 18 months ago it was fitted with new front and rear brake calipers, new rear brake discs and a new clutch. All the rear suspension bushes were also renewed and the rear subframe removed and powder coated. Since then the car has done less than 150 miles. Said to be in excellent original condition throughout, the car has an MOT until August 2009 and is taxed until next January. It is said to drive very well indeed and will be driven 50 miles to the sale.

Details
This example has been in the care of just two private owners, the last since June1980 and has covered only 44,000 miles in 34 years.

Finished in white with black leather the car has the, highly desirable, manual transmission and has benefited from a new bonnet (£4000) new brakes, new chrome, new exhaust, a new Duck Hood and a full repaint in 2001, since when it has covered only a nominal mileage.

The S3 E-Type Convertible offers staggering value for money when compared to some of its contemporaries and can only go one way. This example is a rarity and would look very nice under the Christmas tree!!!

Estimate £28000-31000

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
