Ebay item 4/7/10
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-E-Type-V12-Jaguar-XKE-Convertible-Series-I ...
Current bid $15,101 reserve not met, 2 bids 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
I bought this car in January 1983. When I first bought it, I got it painted and drove it daily for about a month (many times with the top down in the middle of an east coast winter). Since then, I have only driven it a handful of times. I have not driven it on a public road since at least 1994. I have always intended to restore it and drive it on a daily basis but have never put aside the requisite time. I have finally realized that my intentions and reality are never going to match and I would really like to see it owned by someone who has the time and patience to see it through (if money is a big issue you are probably not considering the car in the first place).

The engine runs fine although the air cleaners have long since been lost (it has never been an issue with me since I only start the car up and run it inside two or three times a year). The trans (Automatic) is in perfect condition. The cooling fans are not original (I’m not sure what they’re from) and I have recently discovered that it needs either a voltage regulator or alternator. Someone told me that when these older cars are not driven for long periods of time, the points in the regulator can stick. Don’t know.

The seats and console are NOT original (vinyl). The door panels are original. The car has Imron paint that still looks great, but there are lots of chips on the edges of the doors and hood. There is absolutely NO RUST anywhere on the car.

The top is probably about 15-20 years old but in very good condition. The tires are also `15-20 years old but look like they are brand new.

The odometer reads 75K but it isn’t working. I put WAY less than 10,000 (probably closer to 3-4K) miles on it during my ownership.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
