For sale at Bonhams 21 March 2015

    www.bonhams.com/auctions/22718/lot/10/

    1972 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Roadster
Registration no. BMS 534K Chassis no. 1S1342 Engine no. 7S5821SB
    £35,000 - 45,000
    €49,000 - 63,000

This Series III roadster was acquired by the current vendor in April 2008 having had, according to the accompanying V5C document, four previous keepers. The current odometer reading is only 56,000 miles and we are advised that some 30,000 of them were covered in the first car's 18-24 months. Used sparingly since then, 'BMS 534K' is described as in generally very good condition, with the suspension having been recently renewed, and original apart from a stainless steel exhaust. The car is offered with all expired MoT certificates, the aforementioned V5C document and MoT to November 2015.

Car to return to auction 9/17

    Auction description:
    Lot 248
    1972 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Roadster
    £60,000 - 70,000
    US$ 77,000 - 90,000
    Goodwood Revival

    Registration no. BMS 534K
    Chassis no. 151342
    *Desirable manual transmission model
    *Used sparingly in recent years
    *Circa 56,500 miles recorded
    *Recent extensive refurbishment

This Series III roadster was acquired by the immediately preceding owner in April 2008 having had, according to the then current V5C document, four previous keepers. The current odometer reading is only 56,504 miles and it is understood that some 30,000 of them were covered in the first car's 18-24 months. 'BMS 534K' has been used sparingly since.

The current owner purchased the E-Type at Bonhams' sale at the Goodwood Members' Meeting in March 2015 (Lot 10). After being in storage for four-plus months, the car was driven to the vendor's home, a journey of some 25 miles, where on arrival there was a 'thermal incident' in the rear caused by binding brakes (a not uncommon occurrence). As a result, extensive remedial works have been required. Carried out by Hindmarch & Co in Stamford, these included stripping and rebuilding the rear sub-frame, and fitting new fuel lines, ignition leads, carpets, and brakes amongst many other components. In total, some £10,000 has been spent on the E-Type, which is now in very good order, looking beautiful and running as it should. The car is offered with all expired MoTs, a V5C Registration Certificate, and MoT to April 2018.

Sold by Hilton and Moss Sportscars of Bishop's Stortford in February 2023. Abbreviated seller's description below.

    www.hiltonandmoss.com/stock/details/1972-jaguar-e-type-v12-roadster/590792

This E Type S3 V12 ots is an original UK market RHD car first sold by Henlys Bournemouth in June 1972. This top quality E Type was carefully restored to concours standard over a 2 year period completed in 2020. It is a fully matching numbers, original manual gearbox example, confirmed by the Jaguar Heritage Certificate issued in November 2022.The car is finished in its original colourway, Signal Red with a Black leather interior and Black soft top hood. Since completion of the restoration it has covered a minimal mileage in dry conditions only and when not in use it has been stored in a heated garage.

During restoration only the finest parts were used to ensure quality was maintained throughout. Alongside rebuilding the car a number of desirable upgrades were specified to make for a smoother drive and a more reliable and usable car. It is fitted with larger AP brakes for increased stopping power, alluminium radiator for increased cooling and a 5 speed gearbox for improved cruising on longer trips. The original gearbox is available with the car. A Rob Beere upgraded crank and high pressure oil pump were also fitted.

This E Type is in the finest condition and the restoration was completed with no expense spared. The history file includes invoices documenting the restroation and the car's life.
