Sellers description:
In 1972 while driving by a car dealership in Monterey California we noticed this gorgeous Jaguar on the lot and it was "Love at First Sight". We purchased it and have been babying it for the last 43 years. This Jaguar has been in California all of its life and only driven in nice weather.
This 1969 Jaguar XKE 4.2 Litre has had two owners, we being the second. We purchased the Jaguar when it had 2,800 miles on it. It has always been garaged and is mostly original. It has 54,790 original miles with matching numbers. In 2003 the interior was restored to its original condition with the seats, dash and center console re-upholstered in black leather, the carpet and floor mats were replaced and a new convertible top and oak liner were installed. The boot cover was also redone. We also had a Panasonic AM/FM radio with CD player installed for those long trips. The mahogany steering wheel , panel and gauges (the clock does not work, possibly just need a battery) are original. The interior is in excellent condition. The car is offered with it's original owner's operating handbook and jack. We have ordered the trunk's boot kit from XK's Unlimited, but it has been backordered since April 2015. We are still waiting for it.
The Jaguar's exterior is in great condition for a forty-five year old car. The car was repainted in 1985 matching the original Sable Brown color. The chrome is in excellent condition and is offered with it's original E-type chrome and black rims, also in great shape. The car has Michelin, white wall tires with less than 500 miles on them. The spare tire is also Michelin with a matching rim.
The original engine runs great. Angelo's Classic Import Service in our area has done the standard oil changes and tune ups on the Jaguar. We have not had to do any major work on the engine, it has always ran beautifully. We recently took a 300 mile road trip with the car purring like always.
Like all cars of this age there are some minor issues, a few very small chips in the paint, trunk sticks a little, etc. But how often are you going to find such a jewel of a Jaguar offered for sale by it's almost (2,800 mile) original owner who has taken care of this car like it was a baby.

new owner - Aug 2015
I purchased the car from previous owners and shipped it back to Europe, currently in Belgium.
Over the winter the car was checked completely, although car was in great condition we replaced some rubbers in suspension, motor, new exhaust, new water pump, ...
The car is now ready for the spring/summer.
My wife and I are very proud to own such a nice vintage car, many thanks to the previous owners to keep the car in such an original condition. We will continue to take good care of their "baby", (although in the beginning she had to get used to company of her other German friends in our garage ...)

Feb 2020 : Just before spring we finished mechanical restauration, replaced many 50y old rubber bushings, tubes, ... + had the engine completely overhauled, gearbox, steering, suspension,;..... the car is as new (mechanical), now has still only original miles from new 57.035. So we were ready for some good and long Spring/Summer road trips ..... and then came Covid :-(
