Sellers description for above:
The car is completely restored to a very high standard. Before the restauration started, the car had 47.000 original miles, now the odometer shows 49300. Here is a list with all the work done by myself - except the engine. I have restored 3 E-types so far. The engine was professional rebuilt with all new parts, incl. block and head. Compression on all 6 cyl. is +/- 170 lbs. I used only synthetic oil. I converted to 3 SU carbs (European version) - instead of the 2 Strombergs - now the engine runs much better and gained approx. 40 hp. Before installation the carbs were completely rebuilt and bench tested. 3 new K+N airfilter added. Rebuilt radiator with all new Keflar rubber hoses. Rebuilt Lucas cooling fan motors. New water pump and new thermostat. Car does not overheat, even in hot summer driving. New clutch master and clutch slave cylinder. New brakes, rear and front, brake lines and new brake master cylinder, rebuilt brake booster incl new diaphragm in booster, new brakelight switch. New u-joints and drive shaft balanced. Transaxle new seal and filled with synthetic gear oil. Transmission inspected - did not need a rebuild - new seals put in and filled with synthetic gear oil. New clutch and bearing. Fueltank cleaned - no rust inside - new aftermarket fuel pump, easy to obtain in any auto parts store, 2 fuel filter installed - easy to replace. New Mallory full electronic distributor installed, no more points or timing adjustment. New spark plugs and copper wires. New upgraded relais - no Lucas. New modern alternator with built in regulator - easy to replace - no more Lucas darkness! The original regulator and wiring is still in place. New heater box motor, but the heating system is blocked, who wants to drive a car like this in winter weather? New modern reduction gear starter motor, much more powerful as the old one, but I have the original one. New battery with holddown. New ignition lock. New back up lights and license plate light. All the gauges and electrical components are inspected and all work, except the speedo, it does fancy jumps sometimes , because of the electronic ignition, I will take care of it, before the car goes to the new owner. Complete aftermarket interior incl. leather seats and Wilton carpet, new dash pad. New cloth soft top, frame inspected and painted black. New Alpine CD player with 2 new speakers. New windshield and wipers. The car has all the weatherstripping replaced with new one. New Dayton chrome/stainless wire wheels, bolted on type. I went for these wheels, there is no spline to be damaged, and I installed bigger tires for better road grip - new as well - the bolted wire wheels are much stronger mounted than the knock offs. Prices for both are the same. The spare is still the original steel rim. Clearance for the bigger tires is no problem. New stainless steel exhaust system. New floors welded in (made in UK) the old once were a bid rusty, prob. the car was in the rain, with open top and carpet was wet for a long time. After the floors were in, I undercoated the car like it came from the factory (standard on all S II/III). Rebuilt door hinges, sagging doors is a common problem on XKE's, not an easy fix. The chrome on the car is either new or rechromed, no scratches or dents. I installed 2 new Amco bars. The car is painted in original XKE regency red and the paint is excellent, no chips, dents etc. Wet sanded and buffed. Car numbers match except for the engine, which has no number at all, because a new block was used. I will change oil and filter and lubricate chassis and u-joints, before the new owner picks up the car. A new Nardi black leather steering wheel installed - for much better handling than the old original weak Jag steering wheel. However, I have the original wheel restored, you can have it either way, but for the Jag wheel, you have to buy the hub and horn knob (available at XK's unl.). This car can be enjoyed from the first minute you own the car. I would consider the car as concours, but like to go down on the open road with this beautiful roadster, therefore, I choose modern parts for better performance over the original stuff for worry free driving, without altering the car much.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
