Current bid $16,200 reserve not met, 4 bids 4 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
Our family bought this Jaguar Series Two E-Type in 1998 and held ownership up to this time. It had been repainted primrose yellow sometime in 1996. The mileage appears correct as read by the odometer. The car had about 45,000 miles when purchased.
When examining the car, it appears it has not been involved in any major accidents. There is no evidence of rust or major body repair. The chrome is in excellent condition. The dash is in fine condition as are both door panels and the windshield.
The seats are original and show 42 years of wear. The driver's side is particularly worn. New hides for both seats and the consul top should be considered and run about $1000. The trunk shows little wear and the wheel well is solid. All five tires are serviceable but will need to be replaced in the next couple years. The radio works only intermediately and should also be replaced unless the new owner enjoys the music made by the car's engineer.
At 60,000 miles, the engine is strong and runs well. The carbs were tuned within the last 8,000 miles. The exhaust system emits a strong visceral sound and makes great music when one backs off the gas pedal. The clutch and throw-out bearings will need some attention in the future. The car tracks well and responds without protest.
The top is vinyl and is serviceable but not beautiful. The paint is in reasonably good condition with two small scratches about half inch long on the passenger door. The taping around the rear of the cockpit was not done well. Overall the paint is passable.
This is a good driver's car. It is a 3 to a 3- vehicle. The amount being asked represents its condition. If you want to own one of the greatest sports car ever built, you will not be paying the normally high price demanded for these cars. If you are looking to restore an E-Type Jag to its prime condition, this one gives you more than a good head start.
