Ebay item 3/25/05
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $4,651.00 (Reserve not met) , 8 bids, 6 days left in auction. Manual trans.

Sellers description:
This is my 1969 Jaguar 4.2L / 2+2 coupe with standard transmission and duel Stromberg carbs. I’ve had this car for a year and a half. Fuel tank is newer, still has the UPS sticker on it. Brakes and clutch have been bled. New radiator fluid. Changed the differential and transmission fluids. I cleaned all the grease out of the wire wheel splines and re-greased all with anti-seize. I have driven it only about 1000 miles in the year and a half I’ve had it. The brake pads are in excellent shape. Hand brake works fine. It needs a new interior, with the exception of the headliner, which is new. There is a little rust on both passenger foot wells and the driver side jacking pin is dented in. I got a local welding shop to quote a repair for it. They said about 400.00 and they would cut out and weld in new metal. I do have new sheet metal for this repair which came with the car, but do not see any reason to use these pieces. The sheet metal will go with the car. The color of the car is silver, but needs either a good buffing or new paint. Otherwise the body is solid. New York State inspection good through May 2005. I have had the car up to 100 MPH and it drives very smooth at that speed. No vibrations, with a good solid suspension at 100 MPH. 3 of the wheels are in good shape with the 4th flaking chrome. The spare wheel is brand new. Tires are in good shape, spare poor. The only thing I did not get to change is the belts and hoses. The car is mechanically in sound shape and can be driven as is, as I have since May. This comes with a shop manual also. I do not know any of the prior history of the car, accidents maintenance or repairs. This car is sold "As Is" and NO warranty expressed or implied. Unsure of original mileage, just what OD reads 69304

Car returns to ebay 6/26/08
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-SERIES-II-XKE-2-2-4-2-LITER-4-SPEED_W0QQit ...
Opening bid $8,500 reserve not met, no bids yet, 6 days left in auction. Buy it now price $15,000. Car now located in San Diego, California.

Sellers description:
Runs Strong, looks good
Power steering, Power brakes, Air Conditioning (not installed)
Electronic ignition (Luminition), XJ6 distributor, CD stereo

Items replaced:
modern starter, paint, tires, fuel pump, water pump, oil pump, clutch disc, clutch master, U-Joints, ball joints, front and rear main seals, brakes (rotors, pads, rebuilt calipers), oil filter adapter, K&N air filter, motor mounts, rear shocks, bushings, etc…

Items rebuilt:
Zenith Stromberg carbs, power steering pump, brake master cylinder, clutch slave

Includes a bunch of extra parts such as a complete set of headers (too loud), a rebuilt power steering pump (a lucky find), complete air conditioning system (worked when pulled), various stock exhaust manifolds, starter, and numerous other odds and ends….

Interior needs carpet and seats need rebuilding, however the headliner and sun visors look new. The driver side floor has been replaced and the passenger side is patched with new kick plates on both sides. There is some sloppy cutting/welding that can be seen from the bottom of the car only. The vehicle was originally purchased in Upstate New York and I restored it to use as a daily driver. It has a small amount of Bondo on the rear wheel well and sections of both the front and rear bumpers need to be re-chromed. It is British and as such it leaks some fluid. Mainly power steering fluid, but a touch of oil too.

Unfortunately I managed to drip brake fluid on the roof when I replaced the clutch master last week (what a dumb-ass). It ate through the clear coat and if you take a close look you can still see it.

In early 2008 I sold this car to a guy living in Hawaii.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
