Sellers description:
I am selling this Jaguar XKE for my father . He loves this car but due to some health issues he really is no longer able to enjoy it. First a little history : He bought the car in 2006 from a guy in Florida and had it shipped to his home in Santa Fe . He then sent it up to a place called Xk's Unlimited in San Luis Obispo , CA. They are known as the premier restoration experts for XKE's . They did quite a bit to this car, too much to list in this ad as I have an invoice from them that is 41 pages long !!! The total bill for their work came to $ 116, 893.20 .... yes that is right over 100 grand !!!!! Some of the things they did for this amount include: a complete rebuild of the engine and rear suspension
Rust repair including replacement of most of the floor / trunk ...etc and much of the lower portion of the car and undercarriage . They also refreshed the interior of the car including new padding for the seats and put in a beautiful new headliner. They removed the automatic transmission, always a troublesome item in these models and installed a custom 5 speed manual transmission that they produce. I was told by the owner of XK's Unlimited, when going over the invoice, that this is one of the most common requests that they get on this car and that it actually adds value to the vehicle. It is hard to brake down the huge invoice exactly but it looks like parts and labor on this conversion cost around 10 grand . After completing all of the body work they painted that portion of the car to blend with the untouched portion of the car. They did not repaint the hood ( bonnet ) . After my dad got the car back, he felt that the blending was not a good match with the hood and sent it to a local body shop to repaint the hood to better match the rest of the car , this cost an additional $ 4500 at a place called Munoz Customs in Santa Fe . The car runs great and looks great BUT this is not a 100 point car. Describing a car's condition is highly subjective and I feel it is important, rather than trying to go over every little detail in this ad, to have whomever is interested find the time to come out to the Palm Springs, CA area and take a look at the car in person before making any offers, or at the very least send an inspection company out for a small fee to go over the car. Yes, over 120 grand was spent on this car and it is a beautiful looking car and loads of fun to drive so please come on down and take a look at it and we can go from there. I , of course have all of the invoices that you can look thru and they list everything right down to the smallest screw .
