This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II 2+2 was acquired by the current owner in 1977 and is said to have spent the last decade in storage. The car is finished in light blue over blue leather upholstery and power is provided by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes 15″ wire wheels, dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, four-wheel disc brakes, a louvered clamshell hood, and an AM/FM radio. Recommissioning performed in preparation for the sale is said to have consisted of fluid changes, along with replacement of the battery and heater and cooling hoses. This XKE is now offered as a running project by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a clean California title.
The car is said to have been refinished in its current shade of light blue in the early 1990s. Features include a louvered clamshell hood, exposed headlights, pop-out rear quarter windows, dual exhaust outlets, and a wrap-around rear bumper.
Wire-spoke 15″ knock-off wheels are wrapped in 185-15 Michelin X radial redline tires. The four-wheel disc brakes feature inboard-mounted rear rotors. The brake fluid was flushed in preparation for the sale, and the seller notes the brakes should be serviced.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in blue leather. Features include an AM/FM radio and a heater. The dashboard is cracked, the door panels are torn, the driver-side carpet is missing, and wear is visible on the seats, armrest, and carpets.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel is cracked and fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline, along with an analog clock and auxiliary gauges displaying voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 23k miles, though total mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and aftermarket electric cooling fans. The car is said to have been serviced in January 2023 following its removal from approximately ten years in storage, with work consisting of a fuel system cleaning and coolant flush, as well as replacement of the battery, heater hoses, and cooling hoses. According to the seller, additional mechanical work is required.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic gearbox. Corrosion is noted under the battery tray.
Chassis number 1R40596BW is shown above, and the sequence is listed as the VIN on the title prepended with a “J69.” The registration expired in 2013.
